All the more reason to scratch and claw and get picks with better odds.

Disagree. NJ also disagrees. NJ, which was a 2nd round playoff team, and who just improved their offense.

I don't think anyone on either side can say who won right now
Dont the Devil's need to win something to make it worthwhile? If they lose in the first round and he walks or they sign him to a bad deal how is that a win for them?

Also, when it come to an increased role, there are many players on the Flames that could potentially benefit from it. Starting from Mangiapane and Dube getting PP1 time, to prospects like Pelletier, Coronato, Ruzicka, and maybe even Phillips (if he's back). That's why I personally don't expect anything over 40pts from the shiny new toy. Furthermore, in this discussion we're sticking to points, while Toffoli definitely had a much greater effect at both generating chances and preventing chances against. That's why in my opinion NJ won the trade by a mile.

The only RW prospect is raw rookie Coronato, who may well be played at C after all is said and done here. There’s two more forwards to deal if they aren’t signing.

Yeah yeah yeah, you can say this about any trade.
You don’t think it’s a good trade, just admit it. But you can’t can you? To you- it’s either a great trade, or a we can’t evaluate it.
Every trade in history is a “we don’t know”. And yet every trade in history gets reactions and discussion. So. Here we are.

Yes, NJ is one team that was low on RWs in particular. Who were they bidding against?
EDIT: BTW, NJD was 4th in team scoring. They weren’t hurting there. They may want a D a lot more.

Just to push back on that point, what was Tarasenko last season? Didn't get fetch a couple of prospects a 1st and a 4th, I could be wrong though.
He definitely had a better career than Toffoli, but he wasn't better last year.

Toffifee
One could argue that Toffifee had a career year that he will never repeat...?

The deal is a homerun for NJ. Where they are in their competitive cycle, and cap situation, this is a perfect fit on paper for them
This doesnt mean Calgary lost. We are in a completely different competitive cycle (if were being honest)
I am guessing 90% of people have never seen this player play other then against us (and probably dont remember him)
I have no clue if he'll turn into anything. But I'm happy we didnt trade Toffoli for a 28-30 year old with term to try and stay truely competitive

I think it's pretty clear that he has chosen a path, you just don't want to see it.

Well I posted odds on picks 16-31 so your reply was dumb in the first place
You have no idea what they could have got...more? Maybe
They also could have got less (nothing)

What is your opinion on the trade? Your opinions are actually usually pretty stupid to be honest.

Never really watched this guy play, but looks like he's been taking faceoffs (although without much success), so seemingly he has been playing center? Could we expect this his a sign they are prepared to ship either Backlund or Lindholm and dress this guy as #3?
