Let's go, Moreno.

(sad the day Jays traded him, tough to see what could have been now)

I may have mentioned this before but the Japanese baseball playoffs are as follows. There are 2 leagues and the top 3 teams from each league get in.

Playoff round: 3rd placed team plays a best of 3 at the 2nd placed team's park (like in MLB)

Championship Round: The playoff winner plays a best of 7 at the 1st placed team's park. The first placed team is given Game 1, therefore the series starts with Game 2

World Series: same as MLB, 2-3-2 format.

A quick followup, no surprises, the pennant winners Hanshin and Orix (defending champs) advanced to the Japan Series, 4-0 and 4-1, which starts Saturday.

Both teams have played 3 or 4 games in 3 weeks.

MLB were going to have two wildcard teams in the World Series.

Tie game.

If the Phillies win this game, I think they're winning it all. They've got at least as much firepower as the Rangers, and they know better than to pitch to Garcia.

Atkins, still justifying the Moreno deal?

Seeing Arizona steal on so many attempts pisses me off so much. Jays just sit there like dummies. I keep saying it but I'm genuinely annoyed.

Don't you know? You need about 5 years before you can judge a trade according to Shapiro.

In fairness, Shapiro probably doesn't want to kill Varsho's confidence. If the Jays are truly considering themselves contenders, I think they have to move on for him or have him as a bench player. But part of me thinks the advance stats guys see something intriguing, and his attractive contract will keep him here. But he doesn't deserve to be a starter when he can't hit.

Ketel Marte has a 16-game hitting streak to start his postseason career, the longest hit streak to start a postseason career.

Is Arizona the most ethnic diverse team in the league? Philly may be the opposite.

Looks like a dud of a WS to me, but hopefully it surprises.

Oh I don't mind this at all. Underdogs are always nice from the norm.

Well I can honestly say, this MLB postseason, combined with last year's NL playoffs, has been nothing short of a truly unbelievable stretch of persistent upsets, and is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen in all my years of watching professional sports.

Maybe it's just a baseball thing. Baseball is weird. But even with that taken into account, these have been exceptionally weird postseasons.

DBacks have the advantage in the WS I guess, just based on being the lower seed.

Because your team isn't in it? Well neither is mine. Thems the brakes.

The DBacks' speed on the bases alone will pose a threat to Texas. I still think Texas' pitching will win it but it's an interesting matchup.
