Yeah... I'm not going to be seeing any of your posts again. What a classless, disgraceful post. That's not even being upset at the Flames' predicament, that's just being a terrible person and trashing a great guy because you've got some ridiculous personal bias against him.

This is partly in Peters.
Gotta clog the neutral zone to slow them down AND take advantage of our depth.
Split up the lines, make Avs pay for being a one line team.
Johnny - Lindholm - Dube/Jankowski
3M
Bennett - Monahan - Neal
Mangiapane - Ryan - Hathaway

The problem with this team is the center position as a whole. The Flames have slowest and softest group of centers of all playoff teams and it's not even close. IMHO we aren't going anywhere in the playoffs with Mony, Backs and Janko playing #1C, #2C and #3C. This group of centers is not built for the playoffs.
|
No idea how you rectify this, Treliving has some serious work to do in the offseason or this will be repeated next year. It's going to be year 4 of Monahan and Gaudreau's deals and barring a comeback in this series they haven't taken the Flames any closer than they did in 2014. It sucks to admit because i've been a believer in both of them but it could be getting close to re-evaluating the core of this team. Better teams have been broken up after better playoff performances. There's just been so many soft no shows that its hard to not want to make any serious changes. The team 100% has some flawed aspects that get exploited big time in the playoffs, but are not as noticeable in the regular season. I hope it just doesn't take even more disappointments to notice the flaws. I really do think there's something wrong with Monahan, he was very effective vs the Ducks 2 years ago. He's been off for quite some time now, it's very hard to watch.
Good news is this team is still very young and has a promising group of young Dmen, 2 of which were our best Dmen tonight. There are some really good peices here but there are obviously big components missing. 1 goal from your top 2 C's is simply not good enough through 4 games of the playoffs. Frankly, it's embarrassing

I think a lot of this is on Peters. He doesn't play the games, but he is supposed to have the team mentally ready to go and he is supposed to be able to adapt game plans and motivate during the series. What we've seen of the Flames is a team that came out not well prepared and which has totally failed to adapt. He has the better team to work with, but they haven't been as motivated or prepared.

I thought this was a great, super exciting game. Huge saves, huge hits, huge comeback, OT winner. Frenetic pace.
I don't get these types of comments.

Maybe it’s because they lost and they are down 3-1. As the first seed, they have gotten zero benefit from the officials in any game. They have played poorly but the officiating has been atrocious and is a real turn off as a fan.

Meh.. Watching the other series, flames were going to get pummeled, whoever they faced in the west.
This team, these players, aren't built for the playoffs.
My guess is the pout will be strong on fri. If the flames give up the first goal, they'll give up and lose by more than 3 goals. Win or lose, am glad to be going away and not having to follow the playoff flames.
What a waste of a regular season. If this year's tought me anything, it's to not follow and watch the regular season as closely anymore. There's no real point, and it's 82 frigin nights.

They could just as easily be up 3-1 themselves. They need to tighten up defensively and they can do this.

I loved the effort. Things went south with the 3rd line that were a negative contribution, but that’s about it.
Still proud of how the team responded. This unfortunately is what it looks like to be a Flames fan.

I agree with this. Sucks the flames lost but I can live with it as I saw the effort and care which I didn’t see in the previous 3 games. That’s really ultimately all you can ask for since there are so many variables which affect the result of the game.

Looking forward to brodie and jankowski being traded this offseason. If it was realistic I would hope for neal too but I think we are stuck with that plug.
Did Monahan change something in his personal life this year? His motivation/drive has fallen off a cliff. Did he get dumped?

No GAF on this team whatsoever. I saw more passion from the Tkachuk family in the stands than I've seen from Monahan and company in their entire careers. And no Johnny, whining to the refs does not count as passion.

One has to respect how Peters is such a ferverent believer in his systems and lines. No matter the adversity it seems like he will never make a change. Steady as she goes, this guy would have brought a level of much needed calm on the Titanic. Some coaches would try something different but he remains laser focused on having the same lines do the same thing over and over again.

I think we should lo d stop calling it "officiating" as that implies they follow some decorum. The reality is they are washed up bums that assert themselves as decision makers to try and stay relevant and necessary.

The good news is that they will move up 4 spots in the draft! Any centers to be had with the 26th pick?

The Avs are a one line team. Period. But it is a line that has size and speed and grit. It is a complete line that can play the game any way, and the Flames don’t have an answer to it in any shape or form. The Flames have the talent, but not the answer to the Avs clogging up the neutral zone and closing off the lanes. They recognize the Flames will only take high percentage shots and they take away those areas, then wait for their only offensive threat to score. It’s been the Avs game all year. They have just played their game to a tee, and the Flames have not figured out how to crack the Avs defensive nut. It is unfortunate, but that is the way some series go. Look at the Lightning.
The only thing that really embarrasses me about this is the comments after the game. You have to give credit to the other team sometimes, and this is a time where the opposition just had a better game plan and took advantage of the one (predictable) weakness of the Flames. It ain’t over, but it looks over. The fans should be behind their team, not ####ting all over them. As has been said, with a little luck - and the Flames have had none this series - the Flames could be up 3-1. Yes, it’s disappointing, but it isn’t a burn this team to the ground moment. People need to step back and breathe.

Nonsense. The Avs are firing 50+ shots a game on net, and the only thing preventing each of the last three games from being a comical blowout is Smith standing on his head.

The weird thing is how shocked I feel we are getting stomped so badly. I didn't think it was going to be an easy series, but I was 99% sure we were going to win the series. The Avs are playing out of their minds right now, and look poised to go all the way and win the Cup. Where was this team all year? Feeling shell-shocked and down...
