I don’t think you come back from a tweet like that. I would say he is done.

You dont even know the context of this tweet. Not like it says "in regards to Sportsnet! ". For all we know he could be talking about any aspect of his life.

I hope he's not done.

Can't say I have a lot of faith in Kirch finding anyone as good as Boomer.
Good grief he's still looking for someone to replace Rome from 10-11 which he said would happen months ago.

Journalism and broadcasting are dying industries. Very few professionals these days ride out their working lives in the field. The pay is low, the hours suck, and there really isn't anywhere to go once you've fought and clawed your way into a niche. Most make the transition into corporate communications of some kind once they hit middle age.

i stopped listening to the morning show a few weeks after pinder left. i would definitely tune in to check out a new host provided they occasionally talk about sports and not just nachos and being an out of touch middle aged man

as an aside, i thought that brent krahn this morning was a nice change of pace - but that being said, i only heard the fist 10 minutes he was on - but he seems like he could add the sports iq of the show

will be interesting to see if boomer's tweet leads to anything work wise for him

The message on that image could mean any of a hundred different things so I'm not sure what it is that he can't come back from.

Krahner was fantastic this morning. The guy is hilarious, and can stick and jab with the best of them.

I think you're right and you're wrong -- "journalism" of Murrow and Lippmann's age is probably on its way out, but the whole niche of media consumption is growing faster than ever. There's an ongoing semantic debate among those in the field about what exactly constitutes journalism. But, while the number of express positions as a "journalist" is going down, the number of positions incorporating that same skill-set is actually going up. I think the line is really blurred between journalism, communications, "media," and broadcasting.

I don't listen often anymore since Pinder was moved out of the morning slot, but when I hear Krahn on during my 5 minute commute I always listen to the podcast that day.

He sounds just like John Candy too, and they always rib him for being overwieght so that's exactly how I picture him in my head.

+1

Krahn is good on the radio. Could be good as a regular, or a color commentator in the future.

Krahn has a good voice and temperament from what I have heard so far. The only issue I see is that if he can't offer more than just NHL insight he's a little redundant with Warrener. They do need to talk about MLB, NFL, CFL, etc.

Krahn is really good but I think he has a pretty good career going elsewhere. If I recall he's in sales in the energy sector. So I doubt he'd be a guy that makes the full time jump to broadcasting. But he is good. Has the ability to laugh at himself which is important.
As an aside, I really enjoy Noodles as a analyst as well.

Is sales in the energy sector a stable career these days?

Boomer is likely bluffing or extremely jaded. If he looked at it from afar, he’s got it pretty good compared to the rest of the average joed. I guarantee he’d miss all the perks, trips and free food. Not to mention his job is to just talk about fun things for a living rather than punch in and out of a menial job that you hate like most people in the world.
