Like I said, a ploy.
Leak $13.25 and let the oiler kool-aid chuggers stew with that for a while. Then when it's announced at $12.5 it looks like the McNugget took a haircut for the greater good of the team. What a great guy and leader. Everybody on the oilers needs to take a bit of a haircut now amirite? So as to follow suit with the great leader of our time..

I just dont think the Oilers are smart enough for that.

Agent - "Yes OppenGrubenFuhrer, the fool has left money on the table"
Draisaitl - "I want that money and more, squeeze them"

The hate on this board for McDavid is sometimes embarrassing. I get the hate for Edmonton, but Calgary would kill for a guy like McDavid. To pretend otherwise comes off looking like sour grapes.

I would like McDavid on my team.
At the moment, however, he plays for Edmonton, therefore I hate him. The fact that he is a diver and whiner and that he receives an inordinate amount of bootlicking, plus the effect he has on the entitled fans there is additional cause.

The whole way that Edmonton got McDavid to begin with has tarnished him forever.
Chia screwed Boston up for years, won't be long and Edmonton will be the same.
Finding out about this signing on the screen in Times Square was the only interesting thing about this for me. Edmonton is and always will be a dumpster fire, the city and the team.

If Tkachuk was drafted by the Oilers or Canucks he would be a villain on these boards, like he is now on Oil forums. But he wears Flames colors and is now one of the favorite players on the team and best young players. Edmonton would kill.for a guy like Tkachuk or Hamilton, yet they get massive hate on Oil forums, like a majority of our players do. Does it seem like sour grapes then? No, because that's how sports works, especially with rival teams.

I can get on board with hating the Oilers and their players.
But when posters talk about McDavid's skills etc. their judgement is clearly clouded. He's about to be the league's best player. Posters can acknowledge that and still hate him.
It's hard to take some of these posts seriously when you know that the poster is so jaded he cannot give any kind of objective opinion.
