That's why I'm not mad. The sloppy D is frustrating, but I kind of expected this, it's kind of our thing in openers. Especially opening Katz' new present to his own greasy glory. Long season
And the fact the majority of the crowd has those awful orange jerseys tells you how blind Oiler fans are

Quit freaking out people. Oilers whooped the flames in the opener a few years back like 5-0. Guess who was the lottery team that year?

Why is Jokipakka in the press box? Whole team is playing bad but good lord Grossmann is awful.

Why would you break up Brodie and Gio?
Makes no sense!

Been watching Wideman carefully for this entire game, and he is beyond useless out there. Guys skating right around and through him. Giordano is being wasted as his partner, constantly covering up for him. Wideman cannot skate at an NHL level anymore. I don't care how much money he makes, put Kulak or Kevin (George) in for him.
Grossmann has made a few bad plays, but he's at least contributed some strong defensive zone play. Just don't let him handle the puck. Put him with Brodie and let him carry the puck out.
Either way, my suspicion that these defense pairings wouldn't work has been confirmed.

Not surprised if you think about how much turnover we had.

Flames look out of sync. I'm gonna blame the stupid long opening ceremony. I'm sure they'll be much better in the 2nd.

Brutal period, but they looked a bit better in the last couple of minutes. The entire team just looks out of sync. Gulutzan needs to settle them down and hopefully they'll come out flying in the 2nd. No way are the Oilers this good.

It's relative.
Hamilton is Usain Bolt (...thanks to Grossman)
Brodie is the Road Runner (...thanks to Engelland)
Giordano is The Flash (...thanks to Wideman)

Wideman was horrible last year. Far too immobile, we saw many times this game where Gio had to cover for him. Honestly Wideman and Grossmann should be no where near the starting top 6.

Having to sit through all the intro's and such didn't help either.
