Fantastic trade. Addresses a huge need and it's filled with a great young player.

Boston is the only team that continually trades elite young talent. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

It's the 38 year old 4/5 defender making 7 million dollars a year that put them in Cap Jail. Cautionary tale.

Right handed shot - could pair up with Gio, Brodie or Russell all equally well me thinks

Joe Haggerty @HackswithHaggs Per a source, Edmonton offered B's 16th, 33rd & 57th picks in this draft, but Boston wanted Darnell Nurse as part of the package for DH27

From the Boston perspective: https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2...ZTO/story.html

Interesting quote in here from another GM "They wanted much more from us"

Great trade Tree!

that Bergeron Dougie percentage is terrifying. hopefully one of our centres develops into something close to a PB, and then we can possess ALL the possession.

So do we have 5 Gio's now? Gio, Hamilton, Brodiem Russell, Wideman? Technically I think that's as close as you get.

That's how you play the game, Brad.

All we've been hearing is the Flames are going after goalies and other teams are trying to get Hamilton. Then, BAM, McKenzie and Friedman tweet within seconds of each other that they're hearing the Flames might be interested in Hamilton and less than five minutes later the trade call is starting.

Bruins were trying to screw over Chiarelli

Question:

Are we sorta offer sheet protected? For instance, if someone offer sheets lower in between 5-7.3 million, we are ok and love those numbers for a contract. Any higher, we take more than we offered we can take Two first-round picks and a second- and third-round pick so extra 1st and minor downgrade on second (take that any day)?

Is this Treliving's genius or am I reading it wrong?

I wonder if we called Boston and told them we'd win the offer sheet war and they should take the offer sheet upgrade?

That shows Treliving did his homework. He knew who was in trouble and got on exploiting it immediately.

Flames have ton of cap room this year. They'll match any non-crazy offer sheet. Its not worth worrying about.

Yeah, pretty much our worst case scenario now could still be looked at as "good asset management".

Flames are one (maybe two if you think they need a goalie) piece away from being a legit contender.

Lucic, Hamilton, and Seguin all traded from the Bruins.

Wouldn't have guessed that 24 months ago.
