Solves alot of problems. The lesser tournaments like the Olympics and Confed Cup shouldn't even really count in the cycle. In fact, the confed cup should be done away with. Just like the club world cup (what a joke).

Soccer should not be in the Olympics, we'll agree there.
Confed Cup is important for the World Cup hosts to warmup hosting duties. Also gives confederation winners a goal to achieve. Ie. if Canada hosts the 26 World Cup, having a warm up in 25 is great. Not a super important tournament but has value for organizers and logistics.
The World Club Cup is a big deal for everyone except England. Bayern, Barcelona and Madrid take it seriously and the others especially South America plan their whole season around their 1 chance to beat a European team. We don't think it's a big deal because we're force fed negativity by English media but it's a big deal. If Montreal had won the Champions League last year it would have been HUGE for them to attend this tournament.
Finally, the joint Americas tournament proposal. What's in it for South America? They have a 100 year historical tournament that gets rotated between the 10 countries of the federation. One thing that hosting the tournament does for a country is decentralize it. Most South American countries revolve around the capital (Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Lima, Quito, Bogota etcc...). Having a tournament decentralizes the country to building infrastructure in smaller cities. In fact a couple of years ago when the tournament was in Argentina, Buenos Aires only hosted one game, the final. The rest of the tournament was everywhere else.
If the tournament is in the US every time, it'll turn into a useless event like the Gold Cup is now. If it's held in the traditional rotation, the US won't go. I don't see what's in it for South America. Give up everything just for Mexico and the US.
