Because they want to win champioships.
And outside of Wiggins the other pieces are pretty useless.

Wiggins and Bennett?? So they will trade their two first pick overall in consecutive years for Kevin Love? I don't think it is going to happen... why not add Tristan Thompson as well so Minnesota picks up all Cavs Canadian players? Just when I think I will finally handle cheering for a team Lebron is playing, I might go back to hating him and his team again.

Well Bennett was a stupid first overall pick that looks even worse now.
No point in holding on to him just because they made a bad choice last year.
Wiggins may be great at some point but he has enough questions about his offensive game that I would trade him to be the favorite for the title the next 2 years (maybe more).

Maybe Bennet will improve enough not to be the biggest no. 1 pick bust but he's bust material regardless. So the deal hinges on how good Wiggins will turn into. My guess is at the lower end, he'll be a Tracy McGrady type of player and at the high end the sky's the limit. He does seem to have a rather nice attitude that his final development will more likely to be at the higher end.
And the 1st rounder of next year will be a very late one now with Lebron on board.
I wouldn't fault the Cavs doing this deal since Love is a known commodity.

The biggest problem is whether Love signs an immediate extension. If he does, I have no problem with it. If not, there too much uncertainty, and again it would be Lebron calling the shots. Remember, LBJ signed only a 2 year deal. He's holding them hostage this time and they have to win right now. If he walks after 2 years, Cleveland's gonna be in a ####ty position again for years. I'd keep Wiggins to hedge my bets, but again, Lebron's calling the shots with the 2 year deal he signed.

Wiggins would pretty much need to hit his ceiling or close to it for this trade to be a mistake for Cleveland. Kevin Love is somehow being underrated by many who think trading Wiggins for him is a mistake. Here are the guys in the last 35 years with averages of 26 points and 12 rebounds in a season:
Shaq
Hakeem
Karl Malone
Moses Malone
Kevin Love
And unlike them, Love can stroke it 40% from deep. I mean Kevin Love is well on his way to being a HOFer. The guy is special and just entering his prime. As mentioned it's going to take Wiggins being top 10 ever for that trade to be a mistake.

^ Agreed, but the point of contention is are they only going to get 1 year of Love. Losing Wiggins for one year of Love is totally not worth it. Even if they win the championship, it's simply not worth just one year of Love. He has to sign that extension.

Watching that stupid ESPN Jason Whitlock's rant about Canadian basketball lack the same drive as American or European is stupid and that fat pig should go back watching and reading NBA history. I guess he never heard or probably didn't know that a former NBA MVP Steve Nash is a Canadian. What about guys like Rick Fox, Jamall Magloire. These guys played as hard as their American and European counterpart. They might not be as talented as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and others but these guys competes every game. Others like Bill Wennington formerly of the NBA champs Chicago Bulls during the Jordan era. So generalizing Canadian basketball as not good or lack of drive is just stupid.

Bennett was hurting pretty much the whole season and he wasn't really in top shape. Just give the guy another year or so before you call him a bust or a stupid first overall pick.

Cavs can't trade Wiggin for 30 day so all these rumors are just that. A lot can change in 30 days.

Cleveland should not make any trade without Love at least opting in until 2016, and if I were them I would push to get him to sign the 5 year max extension in a sign and trade. But it appears every NBA player is basically trying to become a free agent in 2016 with a new TV deal, with the cap expected to rise significantly.

Cavs have signed Wiggins so no trade for at least 30 days.

Lebron in 2009:

Saying he is willing to initiate the movement, LeBron James would like to see any NBA player who wears No. 23 to choose another number as homage to Michael Jordan.

I feel like no NBA player should wear 23. I'm starting a petition, and I've got to get everyone in the NBA to sign it. Now, if I'm not going to wear No. 23, then nobody else should be able to wear it."

Retiring gretzky's jersey was lame. Make it an unwritten rule.

Paul George suffers a gruesome leg injury at a basketball USA scrimmage game. Not much point in speculating about how much time he's going to miss until we hear exactly what the damage is, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't miss most of next season.

Reminded me of the Jose Garbajosa injury a few years back.
Awful to see.

That was just nasty. I've heard he also broke his arm on the fall. Just some crappy luck there. I hope he has a full recovery.

Very sad news, someone compares this to Kevin Ware's injury.
