Double Double animal style is great, but get a "whole grilled onion" on it - it's crazy.

Me, I get a 2x1 (double meat, single cheese) with no spread, but extra lettuce, extra tomatoes and the whole grilled onion.

How do you like your fries? you can get them a bit more soggy or a bit more crispy - ask for well done or light

AND

Get a black and white (choc+vanilla) or neapolitan shake, or a Lemon-up (if you prefer pop)

I finally tried Lounge Burger this last Friday and had the Southwest Burger with waffle fries. While I think the burger was pretty good, I have to comment on the amount of mayo they added to the burger was quite distracting. Also the jalapenos were just plain raw jalapenos. Personal preference there, I like them pickled otherwise they just taste nasty to me.

Also waffle fries = doubleplus good.

Looks like a new burger joint is opening up on 10th St NW in Kensington, in what was recently a crepe place.

Crepe Avenue is no more. The rent is too damn high.

Fresh jalapenos on burgers are the best, cut them about 5millimeters thick and enjoy the spicyness.

Never been to Alloy. National, however, might be my favourite burger in the city.

First off, this is one of the only places in the city that grinds their meat in house. Therefore, they are allowed to sell the burger at whatever temperature you like (ie. medium rare, medium, etc.). They use use Silver Creek Ranch free range ground chuck. So to say the least, it's top quality beef.

When the burger shows up, it doesn't look very large, and to be 100% honest, it's not. It is, however, surprisingly filling. This is definitely a quality over quantity sort of deal, but don't think you are going to be leaving the place hungry.

When you bite in, you instantly know you are eating something amazing. There's veggies, there's an aioli of some sort and hopefully you also got it with bacon and cheese. I don't remember what exactly goes on it, but I'll say that whatever it is, works perfectly together. Then when you're finished, you will pretty much want another one right away. Not because you're not full, because you probably are, but because you no longer care about daily caloric intake, fat and sodium levels and you feel like you have to experience it all once again.

It's definitely not a cheap burger, however, it's totally worth it.

Something about Original Joes just hits the sweet spot. Good prices, good food, big portions. The Kona burger is phenomenal.

Bought a bunch of different styles of burgers from Bon Tons on 16th ave. All were amazing. Didnt get the buffalo burgers though- wasnt interested in paying $25 for 4 patties.

OJ's is my favourite chain restaurant. Everything there is awesome, especially compared to Brewster's, which has the worst food of any restaurant in Calgary.

At Brewster's, their wings are good, but that's it. Also, the best beer on their menu is Kokanee, which isn't saying much considering they're also a brewery. I'm disappointed in the taste, quality and price of everything on their menu. Even their side items are terrible (soggy, nasty fries). I have a Brewster's a 10 minute walk from my house and have tried so hard to find something I like, which has led me to try almost everything on their menu. I've concluded nothing is good.

OJ's on the other hand is fantastic. Everything is delicious. The only drawback for me is I can't take my family there as they don't have a restaurant side, unlike crappy Brewster's, which is another reason I end up there even though I hate it.

And since this is the burger thread, OJ's burgers (beef and chicken) are very good. Brewster's would do better to sell Big Mac's than to sell their crappy filler-infused excuse for a burger.

Good point about the beer. The OJs brand Honey Brown is really delicious.

There's a Brewsters 5 minutes from my house in Mackenzie Towne and I've only been there 2 or 3 times in 3 years. Seems I'm equally unimpressed with it as you are.

Fergus & Bix is way better than both imo- food and beer selection. Guess its not really a chain though.

OJ's isn't phenomenol, but what I love about them is they keep it simple. No weird relishes or Asian relishes on their burgers, nachos, etc... just regular pub fare. So few chains in Canada are willing to do that these days.
