I'm enjoying beapro quite a bit, beyond the physics thing and the improved skating and better hitting, here was the shock to me.
In nhl 11 when you graduated from the WHL to the NHL for example, it was a bit faster, but you could get away with a bunch of the crap that you pulled off in Junior, in terms of being a one man team, holding onto the puck etc.
Not this year, I dominated in the Junior ranks rolled into my first NHL camp with the Oilers no less and sucked, thats right in the first game, I couldn't get anything going, I was holding onto the puck for two long, and pow crushed. Make a great stick lift for the puck in my own end and make to move up the ice, suddenly my stick is in the air and my opponent is going the other way.
Great no problem, I sit back on my blueline position, and we win the face off after the goal agaisnt that probably had Tambellini destroying his hamburger due to a heart attack, I rotate over and the line looks clear so I decide to rush the puck and make something happen, so I do that, the next thing you know, I'm contained along the boards, so I decide to try to lob it into the corner. Well suddenly the team is a defenseman short because I'm sliding slowly into the corner, on my face with my stick somewhere in row 36, Loungo is pointing at me and laughing as the Canucks have a breakaway going the other way for a goal.
Suddenly that 30 or 40 second rest between shifts becomes between 3 and 4 minutes. I get out on the ice make a big hit, manage to stay on my skates, skate in on Loungo and slide a pass over to the team center, he slides it back to me and I release the mother of all slap shots from the circle, I'm envisioning the headlines in the Edmonton sun "Amazing Rookie thrashes Loungo and gives him the goggles on the way by" yeah, instead the headlines read "That big shot in Junior does not apply to the NHL as Loungo makes a routine save on wasted draft pick"
So the game ends, Loungo skates by me and snaps me in the face with a moist towellette.
I get called to the GM's office and I'm informed that I'm just not ready yet, I need to go to the Hitmen and work on pretty much every aspect of my game, and for god sakes put on some pants.
There is a major difference between the different levels.

Be a Pro is definitely my favourite part of the game now. The ebb and flow of the playoffs is awesome.
In the WHL finals now, the hitmen have finally learned how to score when I'm not on the ice after losing 6-5 in game #1 with my player being involved in 4 of the goals we've now won 6-1 and 5-2 with my player only have 5 points in those 2 games.

Glad to hear they did some changes for interference logic. There was minimum 4 awful interference calls every game from 2 guys accidentally running into each other.

I'm in the NHL now with Edmonton, I've learned that you have to be a lot smarter as a defenseman then in previous versions. Those long passes that you can do in 11, or even in the WHL tend to get gobbled up now by a roaming forward. If you decide to take that one step too many you tend to get knocked on your a$$.
So a lot of times, you have to do the smart thing in a bad situation and bounce the puck off of the glass and out.
The physical fights in front of the net are quite awesome. I absolutely mugged Martin St Louis in one play.
On the power play because the forwards are smart enough to take your spot on the post, I'll take my 6'5 frame and go mix it up in front of the net.
One big mistake, I got two punched in a fight with Iginla. We were tangling up in front of the net, so I turned and said "Excuse me Mr Iginla, first time insulter long time fan, but I noticed that you dropped your purse behind the net, I would be happy to fetch that for you"
So I got pummeled for being nice, turns out that the purse behind the net actually belonged to my team mate Sam Gagne. But who knew.

lol your NHL12 posts are so awesome. I'm currently addicted to fifa12, but everytime I read your posts I pop nhl12 back in to play for a bit. I OD'd from overplaying PS3 NHL from 2008-2011, so that's saying something about the quality of your posts!

Thanks, I actually managed to put my player out for a game on the shootout.
I went in on Loungo and got to the blue line and hit the dump in button, of course the big loser misplayed it and it went through his oversized pads for the winning goal, I did the whole drop to my knees while screaming the whole "Yeah, non denominational, un nameable diety that totally believes in evolution" and hit the boards.
No big deal right, well I exit the game and find out that I'm out for two days with a strained groin.
Maybe my player should work less on clever stories and more on fitness.
My next character is going to be made to be 5'4" and 350 pounds. I wanna hear the ice break when I skate

Yeah your posts are awesome Captain, makes me want to go home and play.
After my hitmen learned how to play when I'm not on the ice we cruised to the memorial cup trophy.
Brought my strength up to 85 in the off season, really makes battling in front of the net different. Went from being the wussy floater sniper LW to the strong guy battling in front of the net banging in rebounds. Also have my no name right wing leading the league in goals because I keep setting him up with perfect passes.
Kinda strangly the coaches expectations for my second season were way lower than last year where I exceeded everything.
I'm Iginlaesque on penalty shot's though, think I'm 0-5 so far. I'm terrible at them.

Finally! Also great to see interference penalties tweaked. Looks like I might have to put Batman away for an evening.

You have to update your rosters in the online section. The patches don't do this.

Since doing the upgrade, whenever the notification pops up during a game telling me a line is tired, it makes noise as if I'm cycling through the line options. But I'm not. It's annoying as hell. Is anyone else noticing this?

They could work on the AI for 3 years and it would still be broken. They need to take a year off completely just to work on it. It is beyond pathetic how bad it is.
A 5-3 PP and no one moves (both teams). The goalie will throw the puck out and there will be 2 guys who just look at it and don't move. Don't get me started on the break outs, defensive coverage, trying to get open in the o-zone.
Screw these little physics BS that doesn't add anything to the game and fix the damn AI.
