I'm sure there has to be someone who has named their kid Benghazi or Benjamin, middle name Ghazi. Never forget...

Its so interesting to see how simplistic the messages are, its all appeal to emotion and fear with this party. I honestly think that a great number of Republican voters are just simply dumb, unintelligent people who soak up this stuff because its hard to think about nuance in policy and the reality of a very complex world.
These speeches seem geared for children, not educated adults.

The republicans taking advantage of someone clearly grieving and angry who did not spout any truthful things about Hillary because they are not objective and are lashing out at her because of their grief.
That to me was a disgusting display by the organizers. Do they have any decency.

I agree that it's appealing to emotion and fear but I don't think that a great number of Republican supporters are just simply dumb.
The other thing coming through with these speeches is outright rage and fury at the status quo. I think there are many who want to upset the apple cart because whatever is left will, in their mind, be better.
Emotion, fear, rage, fury
A group brought together by those 4 traits is unlikely to be able to stop consuming themselves if their common enemy disappears.

I can see that argument. Exploitation of a desperate mother.
Let me play Devil's advocate:
Given the expanse of the efforts by this mother to gain information only to be rebuffed time and time again, what would the next step she should try? If you've tried everything else, what else should she do?

The thing is that Congress will see 90% of incumbents return as it usually is. People expecting Trump to change the "status quo" are hoping for a wholesale turnaround in Congress, and that just doesn't happen. It's why Trump picked Pence, because it shows them he's ready to play ball with them. It's also why Trump's diehards pretty much hate Pence.

Like... I've seen the polls, I've seen 538's projections, and I know it's next to impossible for Trump to get the support he'd need to win. I don't know how much of it is "It's 2016 and everything is awful," but I just have this nagging feeling that the perfect storm to get Trump in is coming - and I know many, many people who are very informed about American politics and have the same feeling. It's not based on anything concrete, but we all have it just the same.

I think it might just be the sense of foreboding that comes with watching angry, loud wackiness like this. Kind of like a fear of flying born from watching a series of plane crash documentaries.
At least, hopefully that's true. Otherwise we're going to see a lot of refugee claims from the US next year. But only until the world burns I suppose.

I must have said this a dozen times already, but this might actually be the ultimate in Trump being Trump. Amazing really.
Quote:
Donald Trump phoned into Fox News on Monday night, interrupting the network's coverage of the first night of the Republican National Convention.
While two survivors of the Benghazi attack were on stage recounting their ordeal to rapturous applause, Fox News viewers were watching Trump badmouthing Ohio Gov. John Kasich for skipping the convention. Never mind that Trump had made the Benghazi attack a central theme of the convention's opening night.

What are the odds that Kasich shows up at the DNC as the token traitor? I mean, probably close to nil, but wouldn't that be something.

Is Giuliani losing his mind in front of our very eyes? He seems..........really on edge.
He and Trump and many others make defeating terrorism sound so easy. You just have to be ticked off and yell. But really........what would they do? Without screaming, I'd love to hear Rudy let us know how they would defeat terrorism around the world.

I don't blame her much other than for the Hillary for prison line. That was over the line.
She just should not have been allowed to speak in the first place.
