I remember going with my son to buy his first car, that was an absolute trip.
First one was an Acura RSX, we go to see this thing and it was just....a heap of ####.
"Oh yeah, I modded this, changed that, upgraded this, yeah brah! Its amazing!!"
Its a giant pile of muddled together garbage. The fob doesnt unlock all of the doors, because thats a different door entirely and the seatbelts dont work. Keep it 'brah'
We went through a few more until we literally stumbled upon a Unicorn.
"Old lady's car. Only driven to church and co-op. Well maintained."
It wasnt a nice car, but it was low mileage and in the price range and I figured, Yeah, yeah! They all say that, I'll be the judge.
It had like 89k Kms on it and was clean as a whistle. The brakes were good, the oil looked brand new so she lets my son take it for a test drive and off he goes.
She says to me she says: "Oh my...I probably should have taken some collateral or a photo of his driver's license or something...what if he takes it?"
I just chuckled..."Lady...thats my son and I am standing right here beside you with the money. He's not going to steal it or anything."
So he comes back with the car, then I hand him the money and ask if I can drive it, just because I've bought a lot of used cars, I just wanted to make sure everything was cool, no weird sounds and that everything works, so he stands with the lady, I handed him the money...so the money is there, there is no risk to the lady.
I went on a quick jaunt, nothing to worry about, so I came back and we finalized the deal.
The price was fair, the car was good and we finalized the sale.
She was honourable, we were honourable, it was a smooth sale and it turned out to be a great first car for him and she got her money.
Thats how its supposed to go.
