The way I see it, this team is built for the playoffs, and much like Sutter's LA teams, we'll make the most noise when it counts. The Kings weren't chasing any Presidents Trophies, but boy did they kick ass in the playoffs.

A two way player like Backlund?
He would have fit those kings teams like a glove

Same team that has not won a playoff round? Sutter is good but he is not Jesus.

Who on the team hasn't won a playoff round? Dube, Kylington, Mangi, Tkachuk, Vladar
The team as is hasn't played a playoff game together obviously but they have lots of players who have

Just stopping by for my periodic "don't trade any valuable futures for high priced rentals" statement.

The Flames don't have enough scoring to do this, I don't think.

I think if you check out the numbers from the players on those Kings teams, we compare quite favorably in terms of offense.
And this is not at all the same team that lost out in the playoffs. We are much bigger, tougher, and grittier-and despite what some believe, those qualities are very important in the playoffs.

Better goaltending and overall defensive system as well (due to coaching upgrade)

If Barzal doesn't want to stay long-term and Tkachuk wants to go back to the US, what about a deal around those two?
Tkachuk and Barzal. Both players who took a bridge contract with huge qualifying offers.

I'm interested in the idea, if Gaudreau resigns first.
How unreasonable is it that I think the flames deserve a small +? Similar offensive production but Tkachuk is bigger, scores more goals, and is better defensively. Barzal is faster and plays centre.

You proved my point. Tough players built for playoffs. Not rice paper players.

1000x yes.
I've always thought Barzal is a guy that could break out in a huge way in a new system.
Barzal and Mang or Barzal and Johnny would be amazing to watch.

LOL.
In the Playoffs you need to hit, block shots and win faceoffs.
Zero Swedes on the 2 Cups L.A. won.

Race has nothing to do with it. Detroit had basically a team full of Swedes in 07/08. for their cup win. Not a good take. Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Franzen and Holmstrom all say hello.
