Bare bones EV truck that's kinda modular and could also be an SUV. Supposedly for less than $20k US after incentives. Is there a market for this? If I didn't have a dad with a truck that I could borrow this seems like it'd be ideal.

I'd consider it if I wasn't also considering a small RV trailer. It's only got 1000lbs tow rating. But other than that and the slightly too small cab, it could replace my S-10.

I read it doesn’t come with a radio. That’s a little too bare bones for me. I also don’t like that the custom bits can be removed with a Torx screwdriver so someone can easily steal your DLR covers.

Otherwise I like it. Could be a great fleet vehicle.

Talk to me about ceramic coatings. Worth it? Do you need to get it redone yearly? Recommended place to go to?

Thanks.

Ask about the process, if the full process is not completed it is Not worth it. The videos you see and the dealership will show you are from vehicles that have had about 20 coats on them. The dealership will apply one to three coats. Another factor is the paint correction. To get the desired “after” look will require hours of paint correction, eliminating the swirls from the factory paint application, especially in dark colors. I’ve worked at a dealership that just has the detail kid use a sponge to apply a “ceramic coating”, it was a total rip off. I’ve also worked at a dealership that did the entire process correctly, and applied 3 coats of ceramic coating, the results were fairly decent.

If you have a black vehicle, living in our ever changing weather if may be worth it you, it may be not. You can buy a lot of car washes for what the dealers charge for this.

I have it on my car (black) and had it done when I bought it from the dealership. I think it’s awesome and you can definitely see the difference. As far as whether it’s worth it…cars aren’t worth it in the first place! That said, it seems to make a significant difference.

Recently had a few really positive interactions with Bowness auto parts for a few things. Amazing knowledge that is hard to find these days and the prices are fair. The in house branded oil prices are quite good if your not picky but lot's of selection as well.

they have been the 'go to' place for the classic car scene for as long as I can remember - great for hunting down parts seemingly unavailable anywhere else

I have fond memories of going to Bowness Auto Parts with my dad on the weekends to pick up various parts and then going back home and doing the repairs, maintenance, etc.

It's for that obnoxious turd who rollerblades / rides their bike along the river path with their bluetooth speaker clipped to their backpack blasting their own crappy music.

While I loathe the rollerblader in question, the no radio appeals to me in a small way.

If there is a DIN sized opening available, and it's not a total pain to add door speakers, putting together your own system from the components you pick out yourself would actually be pretty fun.

Although we all know that this doesn't end in fun, it ends with breaking 2/3s of the clips on the door interior trim, and that rattle that will just never quite go away no matter what you try.

Bring your favorite portable Bluetooth speaker, or add accessory speakers that transform the dash into an immersive sound bar. Like everything else with a Slate, it’s your call.

So there are options...

So, talk to me about rust repair…..

My vehicle is a 10 year old S5, great car, but has a tiny bit of rust behind the rear wheel well, so not a very obvious place. Anyone have any experience or suggestions with small spot rust repair? Or should I just spend a bunch of money to have a body shop redo the whole quarter panel, or whatever they would do for thousands of dollars.

You can have it removed and redone in fibreglass, and it can look really good, but the rust will come back eventually. Only way to prevent that is replacing the panel basically.

Brand new car, pick it up yesterday. Goddamn screw in the tire first day. It’s not losing air it seems. Can I drive it to work and the dealer tomorrow?

I actually saw a new Daytona Charger on my drive home on Friday. I never expected to actually see one on the streets because I didn't think anyone would actually buy that turd.

Certainly a risk, though I've removed screws from customer tires that looked like they had thousands of miles on them. If it's in the tread and not a groove, it's also possible it didn't go all the way through. You can test by pulling it out. Don't do that if you don't want a flat.

For me it would depend on what it looks like, distance of drive, speed, and how willing I am to keep a very close eye as I drove. Also, how annoying putting the spare on is.

Go to Canadian Tire, buy this, and never worry about this type of hassle again. If you put a bike pump (or better) in your trunk, you can save your own ass on a future road trip as well.
