JD doesn't usually watch strike 3 go by. That was right down the can.

Donaldson has got to turn it around this series. Porcello gave him two meatballs that should've been crushed and he missed both.

Ugh. They got 2 but felt like that could have been a big inning. Ugh again.

Too many mistakes. Mostly from Upton.

So Upton should probably sit. He's obviously not into it tonight. Sit him and put him back in tomorrow.

I cannot believe how many people in this thread think small ball = bunting.

It is so much more than that. It is situational hitting. It is things like slapping it to the open side when a defense shifts. It's starting runners. It's a hundred other things.

The Jays do none of them. And more importantly, they don't practice them.

The difference between this year's offense and last year's is that, after other teams adjusted, the Jays haven't adjusted back.

The entire team walks up to the plate and tries to hit a home run every at bat. It is so easy to pitch against them.

Why do you think they run into hot pitchers seemingly every day? Simple: they make it easy for pitchers. Pitch them away - doesn't matter they'll try to pull it. Throw sliders? Doesn't matter, they'll try to hit it out of the park.

The issue is not: should they bunt? The issue is that Gibby and the Jays do nothing to change the odds. They simply go up to the plate and hope that their skill will carry them.

Absolutely brutal strategy because other teams are talented too, but they're doing the little things to help them win. The Jays aren't.

And that is all on Gibby.

When's the last time they played a complete, solid 9 inning game? Even most of their recent wins haven't been all that inspiring. I hate to suggest they've run out of gas, but maybe they have.
