Wilson Kill All the Things spray will do it.

https://www.rona.ca/en/product/wilso...203060-1298201

I had some behind my garage alley side, and have eradicated it. Probably 3-4 treatments, I did mix as directed into a spray bottle. Note that it will kill everything(which is why I labelled my spray bottle that way), so you need to target the leaves, or brush it on. I didn't care much in my alley about the other weeds I'd be killing. Re-apply in a month or so when you see the strugglers trying to make a comeback.

Don't listen to the garden people who say nothing gets rid of it, they are usually talking natural methods. Nothing is unkillable.

Permit Question.

I have a utility sink in my garage already in place with hot/cold and drain.

Is it possible to tee-off the existing cold-water line, and just run PEX on top of the drywall using pipe brackets to another location within the garage without a permit? It would just be plain jane hose bib termination.

Ooh good stuff, permits again!

Your home insurance would not be happy about that, they specifically ask if any electrical or plumbing has been added during renos. I would assume your insurance would ask that as well, and ultimately insurance coverage is your most important consideration.

Ok let me ask a different question.

Is the above proposal of running a PEX waterline on the drywall (instead of in the wall) allowed, and would it pass inspection? Or would that line need to be armored/protected?

I just want to have a hose bib closer to the garage doors to rinse kids and toys off.

I think it would be OK, given basement plumbing is often exposed. Here's the city guide, but it doesn't specify that. It does show you how to install a hose bib properly.

Green was clearly the right choice. Can't believe some of the dopes on here voting blue. Ha.

Anyone have a recommendation for Calgary area deck/railing building and repair? Our front deck is in desperate need of some remediation.

McLean Railings will likely be the best bang for your buck for railings, not sure about the deck portion as I’ve always done my own.

My smoke alarms have, on three occasions within the last week, randomly gone off. No one is cooking, there is no smoke. They ring as if there is smoke for a few seconds, then stop. It isn't low batteries - that causes them to "chirp", rather than sound off. It coincides with the installation of central A/C, but I don't know if that is just a coincidence.

Are they all 10 years old? Some do that to tell you to replace them.

How do you know it's not low batteries? I had a new alarm installed and it started chirping within weeks/months of installation. The "new" 9V battery it came with was ####e and that's why it was low battery almost right away. No issues since I swapped batteries.

The other possibility I'd check for is just excessive hot/cold. If the AC is blowing cold air directly on the alarm, the cold battery could low battery more easily.

Honestly, don't spare the extra. If it's a smoke alarm, don't install a $10 for 4 9V batteries. Put one of those $10-15 ultras/ultimate in there. Can be the difference between 6-10 months vs several years.

Because like I said, when it's low battery they chirp. They aren't chirping. They're alarming.

Just replace. I've had two smoke/co2 alarms that were defective after only a couple of years. Was not impressed.

Sorry, I misread the battery part. My bad.

Agreed on replacing. They're cheap enough there's no point in wasting time figuring it out.
