Imagine ignoring the absolute disaster trainwreck of this current government and the carnage they've done to Alberta over the last four years, and the long-standing conservative corruption even before that, and then going 'well, I like the color blue better than others so I'll just bend over and take it. Again."

One of the must humorous outcomes of the Alberta is Calling campaign in places like Toronto and Vancouver is that it pulls in more liberals and progressives that waters down the Conservative base (and they're probably going to mostly Calgary and Edmonton). The biggest inbound migration numbers to Alberta are those very provinces they advertise in.

And people don't exactly switch political allegiances just because they move. In fact, it may embolden new arrivals to take a harder stance against corrupt, bumbling and gaslighting governments (like the UCP).

The political right in Alberta should be careful what they wish for, because they just might get it.

They have a commanding lead rurally, and that makes the percentages seem closer than they really are. But when you consider the seats and how those votes are distributed it has to be the NDP with a lead here, and potentially sizeable.

You can win a seat with say one more percent than everyone else. But winning with say 70% of the vote still equals one seat. So, its kind of irrelevant. For a poll like this, it helps even out the percentages, but won't result in more seats.

The media does this every election. It's more evident on the prairies, federally, but it's the same mistake.
I think the rural districts have a much lower population on average though, which means it takes less rural votes to win a seat than an urban seat, even though the UCP is running away with them.

Or I wonder if it’s like all the people leaving California and New York for Florida because those Dem states are now screwed beyond belief in both policy, and fiscally. People are doing whatever it takes to get away from it?

Isn't that bad news for Texas and Florida? Most aren't deplorables moving there.

An anecdote from local Florida gas lighter Ron DeSantis at a prescription drug price press conference is your source?

yes, according to Ron Desantis, great source for a rebuttal. I'm sure Ron will tell you how awesome he and Florida are any day of the week and no matter what awful headline is in the news that day

Is there anything indicating the political demographics of those migrating from Ontario and BC to Alberta? Wouldn't it be more likely that conservatives who feel out of place are the ones moving here? There are most certainly conservatives in Ontario and BC.
