Man this weather blows. Looks like we are in store for a below normal spring according to the forecasts with temperatures getting back to normal in May. I suppose we should be used to it as it seems like Calgary springs haven't been that great for a few years now.
Average for this time of years is +5/-7.
Environment Canada is calling for the next 7 days:
+7/-6
+3/-7
+8/-2
+9/-1
+10/+1
+9/0
+11
Seems pretty normal and a little above average.
I'm still a member of the "I wish it was hotter" club, but this is pretty normal for mid March.
lol - this is what March is every single year. March is a winter month in this city full stop. Spring can start in early April but it’s not a given. Never expect the weather to turn to better until mid April.
March is a month to leave yyc and go on holiday.
You should know this.
Hasn’t this month even been a bit above average?
Seems like a nicer March than usual. People were golfing to start the month off.
Sun and cold beats mild and overcast in the winter.
Vancouver conditions are great for a day or two if you're coming from the deep freeze, but then as it drags on it starts to suck a lot more. Eventually you feel like you live in blade runner.

I just went off the Weather Network's prediction. March is a volatile month for snow but last week was cold for March. This week is back to more normal temperatures. I don't think spring truly starts in Calgary until beginning of May as Aprils have been pretty crappy of late. It's one of my bigger gripes with Calgary weather in that the transition from winter to summer takes so long compared to a lot of other major Canadian cities.

As someone who spent the weekend in Victoria and just got back to my car in the Park&Jet lot around midnight last night, I disagree haha. After all the weekend grey/rain but green everywhere, scraping my car for almost 10 minutes was a kick in the pants (today's weather is pretty glorious though)

Preach!!
I spent 10 days out there Feb 28 - Mar 10, we never once had to scrape the vehicle.
The weather was great, only 1 day with rain and the temps in the 8-10 range.
My son spent his first year at UVic and he said the weather wasn't that bad, if it was cloudy and rainy it would blow over in a few days.
I think Vancouver is worse cuz the weather has nowhere to be blown, the mountains stop it.

I used to live in Nanaimo (now THAT place is depressing in the winter...especially when I was 23 and single), and Vancouver, I'm actually one of those weirdos who loves the rain. It could rain almost every day (as long as it's not summer) and I'm good, that weather just chills me out, I find it peaceful and refreshing.
But I agree if you're not wired for it, it's a bit much. Yeah it really gets socked in, in Vancouver, and that damp cold just chills you to your bones. At least you can layer up here, with that Alberta dry cold.

Yes, because you spent a weekend there.
I love weekends in Victoria. But when it's been longer than that in gloomy season, it does wear on you. That's why I said that a day or two is great when you're coming from real winter. It's when it drags on that it begins to suck (potentially more than being here with minus temps but blue skies).
The other thing about overcast is it's harder to tell what time it is when you're out of it. If you can't tell where the sun is in the sky but it's still light out, it can ### with your mind a bit. Especially when days lengthen.
You're just living in perpetual dull, grey natural light that doesn't change much for 8-11 hours.
It absolutely depends on the context. If you're living out of a hotel downtown, then yes, day after day of pouring rain gets to you. If you're in Ucluelet, not so much.
As for Victoria, the weather never changes in Clive's Classic Lounge, so who cares if it's raining
(I actually do agree that Victoria is only tolerable for a short period)
