I'll give you most of this of being true, (although I do feel that Portugal, Spain, France, are all way worse when it comes to diving) but I take offense to Italy having the Canucks' attitude.
When comparing Italian fans to Canucks fans Italian fans are actually knowledgeable about the game, rarely do you see Italian fans doing stupid things such as hooliganism or violence. Plus Italian fans usually tend to underrate their team and are usually pessimistic about the teams chances of winning.
When it comes to the players the Italian players do not nearly have that sense of arrogance that the Canucks have. I feel that Portugal, England, and Brazil are all worse in terms of arrogance (except for this years edition of Brazil).

Edit: Going to tone down the dickishness, but you have got to f'in kidding me. Spend about 10 seconds looking at the facts behind your claim, it's about as baseless as that pit in 300.
Anyone who runs at full speed and gets clipped knows it hurts and it might take a second or two to get up. Ref will give a free kick and that should be enough but nooooo the fallen player must grab his ankle and yell and fein death.
They just do that so they can get the magic healing spray!

Italian soccer hooliganism is so rampant and violent that they once had to close the doors to the fans and play a part of their season in empty stadiums because the fans were killing each other and the police!

Sorry guys I should have stated that better, I meant on the National Team level.
On the club level it can be really bad and many teams in every league have their Ultra's that cause issues. But on the National team level you rarely see travelling Italian fans causing issues, but yeah domestically the violence can be rampant in those small Italian cities.
But on the National Team level, at international tournaments, you rarely see Italian National team fans causing major issues. However on a whole you can say that about most team's fans on the national team level, as they usually see to be more calm.

There's still issues, and Italian fans are certainly involved in them (as well as others), but in general hooliganism has become a minor concern at international events.

Yeah the problem in the Italian league is that alot of these teams are in small cities where a lot of the fans are a little more poor and of a lower class.
The games in the Sicilian cities (which boiled over in 2007) can be absolutely terrible in terms of violence and are probably the worst example of violence.
Although the small cities do not explain all the violence as can be seen through the Roma and Lazio "Ultras" whom are probably some of the most violent fans in the world.
Violence in Italy on the domestic level is a huge issue, but surprisingly this rarely seems to spread abroad when Italian teams travel. Most of the issues seem to happen during Derby's.
Hopefully we don't see any violence from any of the teams involved at this years World Cup.

If you're a neutral who likes Italy you have bad taste in play style, and if you're a neutral who likes England you're probably just picking the team that everyone else around you likes. Fortunately, I was born in London... so I'm stuck with them, whether or not they're sleeping with each other's exes.
What? England has the worst play style out of all the superpower nations. All they do is play long-ball after long-ball. Not only does it not work, but it's pretty brutal technically. Italy on the other hand plays defense brilliantly. If all you are looking for is goals, then perhaps it is not exciting, but if you understand the game from a defenseman's perspective, it really is something amazing to watch. Long live Catenaccio!!
