You'll wear 3D glasses in public but not at home? Isn't that backwards?

I've read countless posts in this thread about how great this flick is and about how much money it's made, I just have to chime in.....
2-1/2 Hour Remake of "Dances With Wolves".
Brutal. Boring.
...And that Blue Chick Screaming and Whining through out the "Cartoon" was nothing less than nauseating!!

I finally got to see this last week. I'd been waiting to see it in Shanghai so that I could see it in Imax with my wife, but all the tickets were sold out at the Imax theater and the only ones available were through scalpers. Tickets were all going for 300RMB! That's $45CDN.

How does the average income in Shanghai compare to Calgary? I'd imagine 300 RMB is quite a chunk of income in China!

Well, Shanghai is an interesting city for that. The average income is definitely way, way lower than in Calgary, but on the other hand you also see a lot more people cruising around in Ferrari's or Bentley's and wearing top-end designer everything. 300 is a hell of a lot on an average income, but there are loads of people with money in Shanghai too.

With all this stuff about Cameron as a great director, people forget that his movies are so visual because he's also a pretty decent artist. Here's stuff he painted for Aliens to convey the images he wanted to the crew.

Kind of dumb of you to waste your money like that. It certainly wasn't a painful experience. Story aside, the effects were amazing. I think people who don't appreciate that _choose_ not to appreciate it.

Yeah i did. Everyone can write how great it was all they want, I didn't like it at all. And no, i usually don't walk out of movies. It was a Sat. night and we decided to go somewhere where we'd enjoy ourselves. Thanks for your concern though.

You didn't even see it so how can you say you didn't like it?
This Dances with Wolves comparison as some way of discrediting the movie is getting so old. You guys are aware there are only so many story lines available to a story teller, right? Avatar as a story is engaging - unless you don't want to be engaged lol. Let alone how incredible it is visually.

To match the two-dimensional story?

I can't believe people are watching are still watching this in 2D. It kind of is a waste and misses the point. They should never have released a 2D version in the first place.
