Wow, the bitter taste that lingers from that 9 game debacle is strong with you troy, no?
Me too, but it's a long season.
Anyway, keep it going boys.
And does anyone think that Jp will go after Peavey, Bedard or Washburn? I think the time is right to shed some prospects. I would want either. Bedard would be iffy because of his injury history but he's a canuck and would be a nice flavour to our staff. Peavey is a dream, we have the pitching to give up but does he want to come here. Washburn is a serviceable pitcher and to not have to face him over the season would be welcome; since he owns us(seemingly).

Well a win tommorrow would be nice. As much as that 9 game losing streak sucked, turning around and sweeping the Sox in Toronto would put the Jays even with them on the season and get them back to 1 game below .500 in their Division.

Bitter? No, I just hate the way Rios plays, he has the lax style of Manny Ramirez without the bat to back it up. Rios has gobs of talent, but I've never been a fan of guys who just go through the motions. Great job by Tallet yesterday, and I think that was as nasty as I've ever seen Brandon League.

I don't see that, tbqh. I see him showing emotion, especially when he's 1-2 then strikes out on the slider low and off the plate with RISP. I have seen him pretty fired up when he makes a stellar relay throw from right. I think you just don't see him at either extreme. I think, he has an even keel style, but it may come off as lax.

I don't think Rios is like Ramirez at all. I don't think he's a lazy fielder and he doesn't jog along the base paths. He's a bit like a JD Drew where he's one of these 5 tool players, but he really doesn't excel with the offensive tools to be a superstar type player. But it's easy to look at him and wonder why he's not a 320 hitter putting up 30 home runs because you think he could be that good.
If you want a Blue Jay to compare Ramirez to, I'd say he's like George Bell...on steroids.

Jon Lester really had his A+ stuff today as the Jays managed 3 chinsey infield hits against him and a few foul tips as he struck them out at will. It reminded me of some A.J. Burnett performances where he had a few walks, a lot of strikeouts. It's days like this when I wonder of the pitch count theory that teams use now is all that well thought out. Lester shows no signs of wear after 115 pitches, but they're going to go to the pen after 6 innings. When you see a guy like Lester have stuff like this...you wonder how the hell he ever ended up with a 6+ ERA coming into this game.

The flyball he dogged in Boston that ended up a homerun (Wells' expression watching that was of shock and dismay), and him walking off second base after he was called safe in Baltimore disagree. Though Drew is a good comparison, I'd take Drew in a millisecond over Rios.

Again, I was saying this last game against the Sawx:
Quote:
Especially in the later innings, with two called punchouts back to back on Bautista and Scutaro on pitches some 3-4 inches outside, that was some, well, typical umpiring for Jon Lester against the Jays tonight.

How was the Strike zone for Halladay tonight? 14 k's in a complete game win for the doctor. Outside of the 7th inning he threw a really good game. Still he took advantage of some run support to run his record to 9-1 on the season.

Imagine if you will a Jays team that plays only at home and against Central and West opponents. They would be rocking right along.
