You don't have to upgrade your plan, you can get an iPhone on any plan, the only ones that I don't think they'll do is the City Fido ones that aren't paying the SAF.
Other people with sweet retentions plans and stuff have been able to get an iPhone, they just sign a contract.
Are you on a contract already? $330 is $130 MORE than the $199 I paid but I was on no contract.

That wasn't brought to me as an option. You think I could have gotten the iPhone on my same contract, and simply added the 30 dollar data rate?

That's how I understand it. The tier I was on got the 8 GB phone for me @ $249 PLUS a one-time 'retain-your-old-sweet-plan' fee of $50 bucks. They would have waived the $50 fee if I would have picked one of the NEW voice plan w/ the $30 data plan...
The CSR said my old plan was better than the new ones, and that it would be worth it to pay the fiddy.
BTW, I had signed up on a 3yr contract like 2 months ago, so with the Data/iphone my 3 year-contract starts over this month, which doesn't really bother me, as I've finally accepted that cell phones are here to stay (or at least mobile personal communication is here to stay) , and Robbers will be around to provide service and... get my money.../sigh off.

Yeah there's a few different ones of those, was thinking of trying one out. Won't protect much against dropping, but I really hate to put it in a bulky case, it's already a big phone.

Yeah it's pretty crazy. According to the website, it was originally made for the Military to protect the edges of their helicopter blades. I was watching the "pen test" video they have, too... looks pretty wild.
I have one ordered, I'll see what it's like in a couple weeks when it gets here. Sucks they're so backordered, but it's understandable.

I've had my iPhone since February and it's still in pretty mint condition. The screen is flawless and there is a couple nicks on the back corners. The new iPhone does have a different back, so i'm not sure if it's better or worse, but the screen should be the same. Now I am pretty careful with my stuff, but the iPhone is a step above in terms of quality than the previous generations of iPods.

well, no iphone for me.
Have to wait 5 months, or I have to buy out my contract, and start again.
If the promo plan doesn't stick around, that may be the cheaper option.
This sucks, cause I joined rogers to get this phone.

I've had the phone for 5 days and I'm typing 3-4x as fast now. It takes a while to adjust. You'll find that the auto-complete functionality is really very good. I just hammer away without worrying much about being too exact. It all comes out pretty well with minimal need for corrections.

I know the Rogers plus locations received them (market mall, sunridge mall and deerfoot mall). Can't vouch for anything else.
The maps application alone has rendered me a total slave to this device for the foreseeable future.
One question to those that use it, how do you configure it to use the canadian store? It won't let me download apps because i'm not in the US.
