The build quality of the RB2 guitar is generally better. The whole unit is more solid, less toy-like, and much quieter to play on. The strum bar is improved as well. Both guitars have the normal frets and the smaller, solo frets.

I haven't played with the RB2 drums and can't comment on them.

can someone tell me what they think of the RB2 drums? Unfortunately my RB1 drums have developed a rather large dead spot on the yellow pad, borderline unusable.

I haven't used them, but every account I've heard from people has been positive. They are supposed to be quieter, but the demo I saw I just found them to sound different (not as high pitched). That being said, the demo i saw was online, so I assume somebody around here could answer better than I can.

Apparently the foot pedal is much sturdier as well.

the foot pedal is a lot more sturdy. the drums themselves seem to be tougher, but no idea if its true.

though there have been problems with bubbles developing in the drum heads. we dont play them much, so ours are fine, but i did notice the display set at walmart was very bubbly. not sure if there is any sort of refund if it happens within a time frame.

but there definitely is some differences between rb1 and rb2 equipment. not major, but noticeable.

The Wii will work with SD Cards up to 2 GB, so you don't need one any bigger than that. You can get multiple cards if you need more room for DLC.

I think another big difference is that the RB2 drums have expansion ports for 2 cymbals, while RB1 doesnt.

No major differences in the guitar. As others have said, it feels a bit nicer and the strum bar is not as mushy. Feels a bit more responsive.

Drums are wireless, quieter and definitely feel better IMO. Foot pedal seems easier to work with and doesnt tire me out as fast.

Microphone is still the wired version.

Buying the RB1 bundle for $100 is still a great way to get yourself into the game. The nice thing is that if you buy the full bundle for RB2 now you can play the "tug of war" game with the duplicate equipment. Always nice to have 2 guitars as well so you can fill out your band.

Not top hijack, but the drums in GHWT are much superior IMO to RB1 drums. Cant say for RB2 drums, havent used them. The drums are compatible with both games, so you may want to get the drum set for GHWT to use on Rockband.

After playing through GHWT, the song list and DLC for Rockband make the game itself superior IMO, but I love the instruments on GHWT.

Got my RB2 yesterday and played it most of the day - what a great game. Had a buddy come over and I got a chance to play the drums and they are a blast.

Look for my band: DINKYsmalls

Just a couple of quick notes about the limitations of the Wii version that I didn't know about when I bought Rock Band 2:

- you can't import Rock Band 1 songs into Rock Band 2 on the Wii
- you can't import songs from the track packs into Rock Band 2 (the AC/DC track pack is only usable as a stand alone game)
- you can't use the Rock Band 2 controllers on Guitar Hero World Tour on the Wii (you can use GHWT controllers in Rock Band 2 though)
- the online store isn't available yet (though they now claim it will be up early in 2009)

All that being said, it's still a fun game. I probably wouldn't have spent the $40 on the AC/DC pack if I had known that the songs couldn't be used in the actual Rock Band 2 game though.

You would think the track packs would fit on an SD card, but I'm not surprised about the RB1 tracks. The import was something like 3.5 GB on my 360 HDD, and the Wii is limited to 2 GB SD cards.

Rockband and Guitar Hero compatibility matrix for all versions and all systems (as of Dec 10, 2008):http://www.joystiq.com/Instrument-Compatibility-Matrix/

We got GHWT with the full band set for the Wii over Christmas in part because we could use those instruments with RB2. Also didn't hurt that we already had extra GH guitars kicking around too.

My understanding is you can do both of those things for a $5 fee.

Also,

http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108555

We’ve noticed a bit of confusion on the forums regarding add-on content for Rock Band 2 on the Wii. The downloadable content is in the final testing stages and Harmonix is working as fast as possible to deliver the 20 free bonus songs for Rock Band 2, plus an additional 30 songs from the Rock Band DLC Catalog to fans as early in 2009 as possible. As soon as we can announce a firm date, you can be sure the Rock Band community will be the first to know.

We hope this clears up any confusion about Wii DLC. Again, Rock Band 2 for the Wii is an amazing full band experience that ships with 84 of the best tracks in rock and roll. Stay tuned here for more information as it becomes available.

On PS3 or XBOX 360 you can transfer RB1 songs for $5. On the Wii there is no way to do this. This is likely due to the memory limitations on the Wii. Similarly the AC/DC track pack for non-Wii systems includes a code for use in transferring songs. The Wii version doesn't have this.

On a related note...being able to import rb1 songs, the acdc pack, and downloadable content into rb2 on the 360 is amazing for me. it gives me more than enough songs for every possible musical taste in my house...and truthfully i really haven't downloaded enough yet. i might even try the country pack i saw up there just for LOLs!

Has anyone else had issues with the lyrics on the wii version, particularly the blurriness of the words?
