All of this could have been avoided if Conroy traded Andersson at last years trade deadline when prices were sky high. Boneheaded move on Conroys part, and this has been my stance since the TDL.

I had read a few years ago in what I think it was The Hockey News, in one of their off season survey articles that after Canada the 3 California and 4 NY area (including NJ, NYR, NYI, BUF) were the next places that most players had blocked on their NTCs. Plenty of people dont have an interest in living /playing in Cali/NY. Im kind of shocked that some people are shocked at that.

Part of me is really confused as to why this trade is taking this long to get over the finish line, I would imagine that a first + prospects is what CC is looking for, as no one offered anything close to this?...I would assume at least one team has. It really makes me think that they are rushing this rebuild, looking for the "perfect" trade to sell to the fans.

Just get some good future based assets that align with our rebuilding phase, this seems to be dragging out needlessly long

This team had almost 0 chance of any post season success. Even the most optimistic fans would have a hard time seeing this team winning a single round. They were short sighted to not sell assets when there was no chance of playoff success and prices were high.

Vegas is lowballing for sure... its been positioned as the only option and they need a RHD. But vegas knows calgary is in tough and so probably moves slowly unless someone steps up to rent him. once UFA is over i bet they'll come the table. It's just too bad their prospect base is so bad. 1st, Connolly and the kid they drafted in the 2nd round this year feels about fair value eventually if still a lot underwhelming.

Would be nice if a team that isn't so good steps up with a one better asset for him as a rental like another 1st or a blue chipper.

At this point I think CC has to be ok with a first potentially deferred till 2027 if the 2026 pick has conditions on it. Or even 2 2nd rounders plus a b level prospect.

What this team "really" needs are replacements for Gaudreau and Tkachuk, that will only happen through the draft, a story for another day

It lines up with how Friedman said Vegas failed to get it done earlier...so Vegas and Calgary actually had a deal, and Nic frigign' Hague is the one who nixed it?

...I don't think I've ever been more annoyed with a 5th defenceman of another team before...

This also makes me think diss' 3-way trade may end up being the path because it sounds like Conroy is targeting a roster defenceman in the return.
