- Hanifin and Vladar to Buffalo for Savoie, 2nd, 4th
- Toffoli to Rangers for Lafreniere
- Lindholm to Detroit for 9th overall, conditional 2nd or 3rd
- Backlund to Carolina for Kotkaniemi and a 2nd (likely have to take some cap back from carolina, hard to determine value in this one)
Make at least 2 of those happen and jumpstart the rebuild

For all his business success, Edwards has never figured out the NHL and how to build a true Stanley Cup contending organization. Save for a couple of seasons it's largely been annual shortcuts and plugging holes.
Building a true Stanley Cup contending team isn't a business decision, it's a fan decision. Edwards is doing exactly what you're saying he's successful at - he's managing his business.
The fact that his goals, and the goals of fans, may not be the same, does not mean he isn't managing his business well.

I suppose I'm under the assumption that he would love to add a Stanley Cup to his accomplishments. It's entirely possible he doesn't care about winning a cup I suppose. The value of the Flames is only going to increase no matter how the on ice product fares so he's going to make a killing one day when he sells regardless and it's just a matter of how bad he wants to join the winners club with other owners that have Stanley Cup rings.

I disagree. There’s a direct correlation with making more money/revenue when your team is having more success.
Retain 50% on these players to maximize their return. Lindholm at 2.4 and Hanifin at 2.5 even as a 1 year rental should return a very good amount, would be squeezable to any contender basically

They aren't mutually exclusive. The better you run the business, the more playoff success you should have, and at some point, hopefully things go your way and you win a cup or 6.
But the management strategy is never going to be: win cups. It's going to be: build a strong organization
One Stanley Cup run makes the Flames more $ then the last 10 years cumulative playoff revenue (which isn’t a lot of games)
Edwards is not just trying to get into the 1st round for 2-4 extra games
He’s part of the issue but having yes men doesn’t help
The last 10 years is hindsight - you don't plan for mediocrity. More importantly, saying 'one Stanley Cup run is worth more' misses the point, managerially - you can't simply snap your fingers and have a cup run. Consistency is a good managerial goal. If your goal is cups, then you're spending a LOT of time rebuilding.

Not to say I agree with any of these as targets but these 4 trades are the most balanced and realistic I have seen proposed on this site in a while.

You can only retain on 3 transactions correct? Wouldn’t it be better to keep those open for the deadline when it is tougher to fit cap hits in and the Flames may have several more rentals on the move at that time.

Deadline is easier to fit cap in if teams have accrued cap space and hopefully the Flames don't have any rentals to move at the deadline lol

It's easier to fit cap hits in at the deadline as long as a team hasn't been on LTIR all season as they accrue cap space.
Retaining now would be the best move IMO.
Opens up the market for those players to teams that are in tighter cap crunches.
They should be willing to retain on any of the UFAs they are moving.
Question now is, is your returned maximized by trading them at the draft when they can't be extended or on July 1 when they can? Could collect picks for next year but it might feel to far away and also an inferior draft.
