That Escalante goal was totally onside and also a beauty. They looked far more dangerous than the beginning of the season, and having Escalante playing further up is something they should keep finding a way to do.
Also nice to have someone like Cantave to come off the bench instead of totally cratering in the last 30 minutes of games when the subs come on.

Escalante is my favourite player at the club. He’s not a fullback. They need him higher up the pitch. Pretty sure I’ve been ranting about this for years on here haha

He's a great player, and has finish. He should be playing up more, and make breaks into the box when he can.
I like Escalante too but he's a bit of a diving git so it's hard to fully get behind him. there are times when he would've been better served staying on his feet instead of looking for a free or peno.
Him, Cantave and Musse are our most exciting players for me, though the latter tends to make poor decisions once gets in the final third.

I think moving to a back 3 allowing Escalante to bomb up the pitch on Sunday helped. Kamdem is a fullback by trade and he was burned the prior 2 games having to play at CB with Klomp.
For me, the key was Camargo in attack. Best game he's played since probably 2019. Hopefully that form stays for a while and he stays healthy.

Pulling Camargo at the 56 minute (I think) is the right way to go. He's not a 90-minute player, and having a quality sub for him is key to good management. I was worried he'd gas based on the heat, but getting the ball into the box and having him man the center-mid and play a narrower band down the middle is, I think, key to his success.
I'd argue it's a top two emerging; Forge and Pacific. But that was to be expected. Then you have a bunch of clubs that can't win a game to save their lives. IMO the quality of the league has gone down this year, most games I've watched have just been sloppy.
Really disappointing effort from Cavalry yesterday against York, especially after looking so dominant against Ottawa. Some poor officiating cost us a goal and at least one penalty, but I think outside of that it was just the usual story of being flat out poor in the final third.
And yet somehow we're in 4th.

It's an awful idea. The team who finishes 1st could have an amazing season steamrolling every other team, and the team who finishes 5th could have an absolutely mediocre season. And yet it's possible that if they string together some decent/lucky results at the end, they could be champions.
I've never cared for playoffs as a title decider.

Cavalry announced a partnership with Alberta Soccer to enhance local scouting throughout the province. Nice to see they're slowly moving on from just getting talent from only Foothills, at least in principle anyways.
Kristian Jack says Musse is the best player in the league right now. Jordan Wilson said he was the best player in the league earlier this year. Feels like he's really overrated.
Great player when he's on, like he was against Forge, Halifax and Ottawa. Just find him so inconsistent.
I like Musse despite the inconsistency. I think if he was consistently performing well (for him), he’d be in a higher league right away. When he’s on, he’s really good.

This season, I think Musse's highs have been higher and there's been fewer games and spells of games where he's ineffective. He's still a bit of wildcard but think of where this team would be this season without him.
Another thing I think is important when evaluating Musse is that he's rarely had a strong #10 playmaker to draw defenders inside and open up space for him. So much of our attack goes through him out wide; teams try to pin him out there and without a huge threat up the middle, that's not an easy proposition for him. When Camargo has been form this season, it's made a big difference.
I also definitely wouldn't rate him as the best player in the league, even in his position. But the way he's going this season so far, he would start on almost every team in this league.
