Kadri just scored an OT winner in the SCF...he is not a playoff liability
He got a couple suspensions playing too hard...I'll take that o er shying away.

Same, given how easy a time we gave the Oilers in those 5 games.
They could not have been less physical in a playoff scenario against a rival team. Like where was the fire?
After seeing that I'm grateful for a change in DNA to this core.
I wouldn't be giving Pissy open lanes out there to accommodate him playing on one leg. Like wtf, he put up two and a half points per game coasting in one half of the rink. Unacceptable work from our 200 foot forwards and Hanifin.
When push came to shove the players assigned to shut down their top guys were butter soft. Tanev gets a pass cause he was at 50%, but that's it.
I'm elated to have Kadri here to handle McAvi now, which he did well.

In fairness, it's hard to push the physicality when every single time you touch mccrybaby the refs arm goes up.

Just stop. Just because people don't like the deal doesn't make them racist. I am fine with the deal, but there are good reasons not to like it.

And we have 2 other Selke-worthy centers to handle Draisaitl as well.

Huberdeau and Kadri are both set-up guys
Mangiapane and Lindholm are both shooters
So Hubey-Kadri doesn't make much sense IMO
Hubey-Lindy
Mang-Kadri
is a perfect fit - no need to over-think it

After perusing through these stats that I know almost nothing about, I'm predicting that Kadri will get 81 points and ends up with a +32.

The deal is 2 years to long for my liking but the guy is a UFA and term is clearly important to UFAs. They got him signed at a number that I didn't think was possible, considering the season he came off, 87 points in 71 games, 15 points in 16 playoff games and some crucial goals during the run.
I think BT did an excellent job considering. The team got the right dollar amount, the player got the term he wanted, pretty common in any negotiation with a UFA that you have to give and take.
The important thing is the Flames now finally have centre depth and guys slotted into the lines they are supposed to be on. Lindholm and Kadri can be interchangeable as well on the 1st line, which gives Darryl some options. He didn't have this luxury before with Backlund being our 2nd best centre.

Yes, the contract might be less than spectacular in a few years but we have no idea what else could happen on the team…we always tend to assume the worst but there’s also a good possibility that we see something really positive happening that will make things easier.
Maybe guys like Kerins or Phillips takes a big step forward and outperforms expectations or maybe our recent first rounders (Zary, Pelletier, Coronato) could really catch fire. Maybe Wolf becomes a Vezina candidate and the team can move Markstrom and get quality assets. Or they could strike gold with one of the draft picks over the next year or two. Being able to get a couple of players to play high end first or second line minutes while they are on an ELC will make that contract a lot more palatable.
So much can change in a three or four years. If in 2018, someone said Gio, Brodie, Tkachuk, Monahan, and Gaudreau would all be done by 2022-23, I’d have thought they were crazy. Yet, at least, on paper, I think we are a better, more balanced team. In 2026, who knows what the team will actually look like? Let’s enjoy this season. It’s going to be fun.

In isolation, I don't like this deal. I don't think it's great value. But for the situation the team was in today, and for the games we'll play next season, this is the best move Treliving could've made. And the pressure this will put on our cap space, well, that's a problem for future Brad. But I think we owe it to him to have confidence that he can handle it.
Sofa GM SebC might've liked to hang on to a first round pick, ride out Monahan's contract, and maybe take a shot at MacKinnon in a year. But sofa GM SebC doesn't have real consequences if MacKinnon doesn't make it to market, or does but goes somewhere else. Sofa GM SebC deals with hypotheticals that will never be proven right or wrong. Brad Treliving deals with the real team, and perhaps does not have the luxury of passing on a player to hope that he gets a better one with his cap space next year.
And if his real team wins the Cup, and I certainly think this team is good enough to win a Stanley Cup, Brad Treliving will have absolute vindication over the naysayers, and the doubts of approvers. Then the problem will be how to get him to consent to a statue of his balls outside the new arena.

Either that or we have a Huberdeau-Kadri-Lindholm top line.

Pure speculation on my part but Calgary is home to a large community of Lebanese, Syrian, and Middle Eastern families. It would not shock me if this wasn't in Nazem's consideration to live in Calgary for the next 7 years.
I am very happy to welcome Kadri to Calgary and I look forward to having another #### disturber on the team.

A lot of people are forgetting/not realizing just how good Naz was on some really bad Leafs teams. This guy is a total top-six centre, through and through. Even though his points haven't always been there, he's always been this good.

I wish Monahan could play with more grit. I wish we had a guy like - oh! - never mind.

I mean I'm sure the real GM would have liked that too - but it was not mathematically possible ... signing Kadri without trading Mony is a cap violation.
