Our defence definitely overachieved given the pieces there on paper.

What helped was chemistry and the three pairings getting in a rhythm. You need that for sure. But when Tanev was taken out/Zadorov injured it exposed how the individual pieces struggled to do it by themselves or with different partners.

Kassian ####ing charges every time he is on the ice...which isn't very often but still. That Dube penalty in game 5 was brutal.

Last night after his breakaway miss he did a huge swooping crossover speed build and ran a guy across the ice.

I don't think the defense overachieved as the group as consistently good all season. It started to fall apart when Tanev got injured as it disrupted the pairings and roles. You can argue that the blueline being healthy all season never provided the opportunity to adjust to the adversity of mixing up pairings and playing different roles.

Never understood why this was such an issue for some.
Yes, but the difference is that he spent too much time doing it. Sometimes you want you coach to be, you know, coaching. Lift up your head and do something! Yell as someone! Pull the goalie, or spit on a ref! But for once, stop staring at the screen

Huh? To me, their diving and the smirks after they got a PP out of it. Yamamoto does it all the time, he'll fall down like he's been shot, then as soon as he sees the ref's arm goes up, he pops back up and smirks. Their whole line up is hateable, top to bottom, may be, a huge may be, DR not as much.
