What are they supposed to do? Revoke the Blackhawks' franchise and let Wirtz sue them for the billion dollars or so he would lose?

Force Wirtz to sell the Blackhawks? The NHL wouldn't be the first league to do it.

Personally I think the world would be a better place if old Rocky wasn’t a part of it. Literal human garbage. “None of your business”, “we’re not talking about it”, etc. How about be a human and acknowledge the sickness that went on in your place of business and make sure that it never happens again. Is that so much to ask? Disgusting old waste of oxygen. Makes me sick.

Whereas you're so much better, wishing people dead.

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s much Bettman can do about Wirtz losing his cool at a presser like that.

No but Bettman also didn't have to be his shmirky dink self and downplay it like what the guy did was no big deal. The word Gary was needing to say was unacceptable instead of being the asshat he is.

Dislike the man but wishing him dead? Gross.

Hearing Wirtz' comments again at the start of the 32 Thoughts pod was even more infuriating after a few days. It was such a softball question and seemingly one of the main reasons for the whole town hall...so unbelievably stupid.

Actually, since Bettman is a lawyer and is paid not to say anything that might incriminate his clients, he kind of did have to be his shmirky dink self. The relationship between commissioner and owners isn't exactly a normal client-lawyer deal, but I'm sure some of the same expectations apply.

What he said to Wirtz in private was probably much more interesting. I bet it began with ‘Listen, you !@#%&!@ !@#$&*!$!…’ and went from there. But we'll never know, unless he writes a tell-all autobiography after he retires (and Wirtz is safely deceased).

The NBA made Donald Sterling sell the Clippers for telling his mistress not to “have all these black guys on your Instagram” (I know it was more than that).

Punting a failson owner like Wirtz opens the opportunity for someone like say, Jeff Bezos to enter the fold - an original 6 marquee franchise in a premiere market?

Seems like the sort of thing ol Jeff would be down for.

Forcing him to sell isn't a huge punishment IMO. He walks away with a billion dollars.

Kick him out of the league and let him find a new league for his club to play in.

The old breed of billionaires bought sports teams as personal hobbies. The new breed buy their own private space programs. Bezos is definitely new breed. I don't think he would nibble.

If Bezos didn’t buy Seattle I don’t think he’d be buying Chicago. Secondly I’m. It sure the league would want a filthy rich guy like him owning a team. He has so much clout over anyone based on his wealth that he can throw his dick around without consequence. The other guys are rich but know to stay in line. I’m not sure Bezos can do that in the same ball pit as others.

You mean, you want the NHL to kick itself out of the Chicago market and then be sued for the value of the revoked franchise? Nice to know.

Good...the fact that the NHLPA essentially hung this guy out to dry?

Independent review finds that it was a miscommunication problem rather than a systemic or individual fault as to why Beach's case fell through the cracks of the NHLPA
