Then you are just waiting for these pricks to find a new way to do it. Is they are such "elite" clubs they can be back in a year or two. Juve went down 3 or 4 divisions. The Serie A still exists.

I mean there's quite a difference between match fixing and greed. To do nothing about match fixing would have said your sport is WWE. Expecting them to cost themselves money to "send a message" is pretty hopeful.

Not sure about the above. According to the Guardian, the meeting between the 12 clubs is kicking off in a couple of mins. And they're still reporting that both Chelsea and Man City are both out.

I have to think player contracts outline in black and white what competitions they are obligated to play in, i.e.: Prem, FA Cup, potential CL, potential Europa etc.
They probably could argue it's breach of contract to force them to play in a non-FIFA sanctioned league.

Florentino's next interview is going to be God-tier.

Yesterday was a tragic day, today is a great day!
But don’t forget what these clubs tried to do. They need to be punished

Yeah, I don’t let the Germans and French off the hook though. They weren’t first in, but we know there were supposed to be 15 teams and had 12 step out into the light. It’s pretty obvious that Bayern and PSG were rolling in, but just didn’t want to look terrible until the coast was clear.

I don’t know about punished, you either get the ticket/fine or the lecture. In this case these teams obviously responded to the lecture. The ones that stay in should be severely fined/sanctioned.

I'm totally not in disagreement that the clubs involved should be punished. But punished how?
Sure, kick them out of Europe this season but how does that affect those that are already out?
Kick them out for next season but how does that affect those that won't be qualifying for it anyways?
Unless there is something that says banned from CL in the next year that they actually qualify for it.
I want them all punished but I want them all punished equally. The best I can think of banned for the next year that the team qualifies for the CL and/or some sort of points deduction for the start of next season. I'd be good with at least 20.

What I am really hoping happens is the uk government forces a move to the German ownership model and punts these dbag owners right out of their game entirely though. Do that and no fines or sanctions are fine with me because for me it's ultimately about punishing the people that caused this not the supporters or players.
If not, a year ban from Europe for the four follower teams and two for the two instigating clubs at Liverpool and man u seems about right. Hit these guys in their pocketbook. Sorry for the fans and players there though. But they will be back in Europe before long anyway.

Something like a blanket 3 year European ban for all teams involved would be nice.
I'm not holding my breath though. I hope I'm wrong but I could also see UEFA trying to appease the teams instead of punishing them.

No. That doesn't seem about right at all. What are you trying to say that Unitef/Liverpool led the other four clubs into this mess? Levy is a big boy. He very much knew what he was doing.
As for a blanket ban for the next three years for all six teams that's not equally fair either given you're looking at punishing United, Liverpool, City and Chelsea by denying them access to a competition that they're inclined to qualify for whereas Spurs and Arsenal get off lighter?
It's a case here of the reward was going to be the same for all. Punishment should be the same.
Banned for the next x times of qualifying for the CL.
If it takes some teams three years to complete the ban and others eight so be it.

it's amazing, really. We are talking about extremely rich businessmen looking over some of the biggest football clubs in the world, you'd expect they'd have some kind of plan when they do stuff like this. But they had absolutely nothing, it's incredible. I guess if you want to do a coup like this, you'd have to do it bit by bit and ensure you have actually have people on your side. You'd have to try to have your sponsors on board, then the fans (at least a part of them) and you'd need to work out all the details regarding the format, the setup and so on. And they had nothing. Even their website looked like something from 20 years ago.
