Sure I mean guaranteed contracts in limelight places may come with some hard work expectations, that definitely is a shame for the faint of hearts or weak. What a shame.
However there’s an upside often not on display when comments like yours are cast and that is that if you actually do put the work in and do contribute to the community and do your best chances are you’ll be so god damn wildly successful you’ll become a legend and they’ll want a statue of you (Iginla) or they’ll at the very least honour you and keep you around employed in other cool alternative venues and you can keep your faux celebrity profile into old age getting gigs, being beloved and enjoying life when in reality you probably don’t really deserve it or otherwise wouldn’t really have those types of post-retirement high profile opportunities (Stajan, Warrener, Sarich, etc.).
Oh yeah and also, and critically important, you can look yourself in the mirror or others in the eye and say you truly did your best. There’s that too.
If you want to play hockey for your career quite frankly I can’t imagine playing anywhere other than a Canadian / high profile city unless you’re a grade A candy ass, in which case, let’s try and weed those primadonnas out in advance shall we? What you want to go coast around Florida? Okay, great, enjoy the sunshine and quiet life.

Gosh, I hope so (just as long as they get a good return).

Blame Johnny all you want, is he soft? Yes. Is he easy to body off the puck? Sure. Is he struggling to produce? No doubt. However the anchor on that line is Monahan, with his lack of ability to do anything besides win a draw or stand in front of the net.

No one is gushing about Monahan.

They said on the stars broadcast that when a series is tied 2-2 the winner of game 5 wins the series 72% of the time.

It's the Flames. This series was effectively over when they blew their chance to go up 3-1 in the series with 12 seconds left in game 4.
It's all just a steady descent into "I don't give a **** anymore" from there. That's how this team responds.

Imagine not being able to enjoy your team in the playoffs during a pandemic when we have no idea when the next season will start
12 of 31 teams are alive and the Flames are one of them
Worry about the offseason in the offseason, it might be a LONG one

I'm not debating the likelihood of the Flames losing. Odds aren't in their favour.
Its just puzzling to me that we can't wait till the series is over.
Its game 6 of the playoffs. My team is up against a tough opponent, backs against the wall. I'm stoked because you go through a long and sometimes boring regular season, miss the playoffs a fair bit or barely get a taste when they lose early, and now we are at least in a long series and it's like, nah, its over, let's argue about how much value our underperformed players don't have and moan about mediocrity.
I'll keep living the dream just a little bit longer. Its why I'm a fan.

I've been really critical of the team as of late - but there's still no way in hell I want Flames hockey to end tomorrow. The core has to come out and play the best games of their careers tomorrow. I'm excited for the game.

Some people just like to say I told you so....its why they only post after losses
can't imagine its very fun being a sports fan like that, 30 teams out of 31 will end up losing

Yeah but it's also just a reaction to this team doing the same thing every time they make the playoffs.
I doubt anyone here who is being critical of the team is sitting back rooting for losses. It's just pent up frustration of seeing the same thing every year without any meaningful deviation or improvements from what has become this organization's "norm".
We're all Flames fan, and most of the words you're reading on here aren't from people rooting for losses. They'll be tuning in and cheering for a win tomorrow like always.

Again the Flames have lost 9 consecutive series when down 3–2 and they've choked a round basically every time they've made the playoffs since 1989.
I'm ready for that to change. This ain't over until the Flames come out and tell us it's over. If this situation were reversed and the Flames were up 3–2, I guarantee we'd be freaking out about the possibility of Dallas coming back. So why shouldn't we feel optimistic? It's 3–2. Still anybody's series.

The beauty of a public message board dedicated to the Flames, where people can discuss a range of topics/subjects, whether people disagree with it or not.

I appreciate everyone putting a positive spin on things right now. I’m finding it extremely difficult to be positive about this team right now, so it’s refreshing to see different points of view.

This may not be popular but I think even if they beat Dallas and to be clear, of course I hope they do, it should or does actually change the necessary reboot that’s coming.
They aren’t getting past Vegas, which is who they’ll play as number 6 seed (now we know this 100%), so, it’s rebuild time.
