The comments are even more hilariously one-sided. "A package of Brown+Bozak+2nd might have to go the other way."
Several comments about how Burke owes them for this and that so he should make the trade, as though he's the one calling the shots. Leafs fans as a bunch really are clueless about anything going on outside of Toronto.
To be fair there are also quite a few comments saying no way the flames make any of those deals.
Dougie is everything we hoped for and then some. To be that good at his age is priceless. No way could we replace him without having to pay a stupid price.

When you think about what he is, a 50-pt possession monster top pairing defenceman at the age of 24... that is the very definition of irreplaceable and untouchable.
We would be stupid to let him walk in UFA at this point, regardless of what Haynes believes - let one of Hamonic or Stone walk so we have the salary to do it. He is our #1 defenceman and will be for a long time.

I had to laugh in the thread, the first reason why Leafs fans won't trade even Nylander for him is that he's a sure fire top 10 future center in this league, he's their Malkin.
Oh and the second one was that Dougie is pretty sheltered and he's not physical and makes a lot of mistakes.
At that point the conversation is

If you are starting with Marner and Nylander, there is something to talk about.
My god. That is dumb.
There is a lot of moronic gibberish in that article, but I think this might be my favourite sequence, near the beginning. It starts with this:

So, yes. The Flames have incredible depth on the right side of their defence.

"Although hated by the analytics community, Stone is only one season removed from a career high season in goals (6), assists (30), and points (36). That many points while being known as a "shutdown defenseman" is pretty great, and definitely top-4 territory..."
Yes, the secret to that depth is to have top-four guys layered three deep. It is a calculated and brilliant plan by GM Brad Treliving to overload at the position.

"Personally, I believe the Flames would like to play Stone in their top-4."
And here is where everything falls apart.
The Flames JUST acquired a new, better top four defenseman AND signed Michael Stone to a long term deal all but assuring that he would regularly be relegated to the bottom pairing. Why the hell would anyone think that the Flames WANT Stone to play in the top-four, when they practically ensured that he wouldn't with the acquisition of Hamonic? If the Flames wanted Stone to play in the top-four, why did they not simply extend him and be done with it?

Simple, he needed a way to rationalize his proposal.
But it would need to happen now to make sense.

Bozak and JVR? 8.5 million for two guys each with 1 year left on their contracts. Meanwhile our boy Dougie is locked up for another 4...
Not to mention, why would we trade for a center and a LW? This guy must have written this from the toilet this morning. I can see why it makes sense for the leafs.
Klefbom is the most over rated guy in Canada right now.
No, Larsson might be, but Klefbom is legitimately really, really good. He's in contention for the best deal in the league on that contract.
