Every member of CP does no work for a take-home in excess of 100k.
Any more questions?

The frustrating thing is that I'm pretty sure most will agree the number is going to be somewhere around $7.2-7.6 million... Very likely $7.5 million. We know it. Johnny and his agent probably know it. The flames brass probably know it.
All this posturing right now reminds me of the last lockout... Everyone knew where the final number would be but we had to watch both sides go back forth with each other for months and months... And for what? To end up at the exact deal pretty much everyone thought it would be months before the lockout started.
All it takes is for one side to give a little and the other side will do the same. Then a compromise will be found almost immediately. I just hope this happens with time to spare before the start of the season.

Gaudreau is not better than:
Crosby
Benn
Bergeron
Kopitar
Malkin
Tavares
Seguin
Kane
Ovechkin
Giroux
That's ten right there. Guess I'm not in my right mind.
and he is not clearly better than:
Panarin
Getzlaf
Perry
Wheeler
Tarasenko
Pavelski
Thornton
Toews
Barkov
Johnson (Healthy)
Couture
Kuznetsov
Stamkos
Jagr (lol)

I take Gaudreau over the bolded any day of the week and twice on Sundays. And it's not even a hard choice.

Brain fart. Who's Johnson? Unless you've got D on the list.
Better/Best is a tough argument. Ever. There are so many elements that make up each player. Would you trade one for another is one way, but age obviously factors. I'd never trade Johnny for Thornton. But...

Obviously I don't think that's the case so relationship management is just as important as cap management here.

Nah, a player deciding to go UFA is just gambling he can make more bank elsewhere. You think Russell wasn't invested in the Flames? Glencross?

Toews isn't as good offensively or defensively as Kopitar. It's a small separation but big enough to separate them on that kind of ranking. Despite their similar numbers on paper what people forget is Kopitar has never not led his team in points whereas Toews has always been 2nd or 3rd in scoring on his team. It's kind of the same reasoning why Panarin who put up the same points as Gaudreau is not considered on the same tier as Gaudreau by certain people.
Doesn't hurt that Toews has always been attached to the hip to a HoFer, either Hossa or Kane. Last year he was not and he didn't even hit 60 points.

Don't detail this already gong show thread with debating which 2 non flames/Gaudreau players are better.
Everyone has their opinion. It can easily be argued Johnny is in the mix as a top 10 forward in the game.

Yea as awful as this thread has gotten, it's one step worse arguing how GranteedEV ranks certain players. I'd almost rather read another Gaudreauvertime fluff post.

It's ornery on here now and we're two weeks out. If he doesn't sign before Oct 12th, it's going to be fataing unbearable around here.

Ten forwards in the NHL and certainly no one can say he is not the best player on the flames.
I always laugh at the argument that if player A gets 8 million then you have to give other players the same contract.
No that's not how it works. You only have to give them the same contract if they are as good as the other guy. And wouldn't that be a good thing If Reinhart
Or matthew turned out as good as JG
I mean if you had to pay JG. MT or SM 8 million each it would be based on their play and you would be having a cup parade and spending all that playoff revenue.
Reward him for his great play, don't drive a wedge between him and management. If anyone deserves 8 million whether he has negotiating power or not it's Johnny hockey
|
Even after reading the vast majority of Gaudreauvertime's posts and finding myself disliking one of my favorite players with each passing statement, this might actually be the worst written and reasoned post I have seen on here.
You lack objectivity. Step away from the keyboard.
