Thanks CG, that's awesome for those of us who couldn't make it out today.

Injuries was the biggest reason he fell, but skating and conditioning are things he has been criticized for.

Be warned, everybody -- I was very vocal in my analysis throughout the scrimmage. My voice is on all-too-prominent display.

Really cool to meet a lot of cool people. Caged Great is a really neat person who's pretty smart, as is his colleague Dan (Iceman).

I think it was aeneas who came to greet me after the game. Also a very nice guy.

Thanks to the CP community for being so welcoming and supporting. I had a blast at this camp, and I feel privileged to be able to help such great people in this community.

Skating and conditioning are fixable. I'm now looking forward to how E2 develops. Here's hoping for another late round steal.

Explosiveness and acceleration were his shortcomings in terms of skating. His edge work is good as it needs to be for the kind of game he plays. And conditioning and consistency. But I felt before this was more due to his injuries over the season than anything else.

He was projected to go three rounds higher-ish and I am surprised he didn't honestly. There is no board though. But all good things happen for a reason and I am Really pleased we got a good egg in the 6th round.

He had shoulder injuries apparently, that hurt his production in his draft year.

Hopefully because of that he ends up a steal for the Flames.

A bit bummed that Janko didn't have a good showing in the scrimmage.. Should have dominated.. Oh well, maybe he will in main camp.

That was a lot of fun to watch. The collection of defence prospects that the Flames have put together is very impressive. There are so many solid puck-movers and guys that can skate the puck out of trouble that the pace of the game stays high due to the quality breakouts.

Player notes:
Team Nieuwendyk (White)

Brad Bowles - was skating well out there and had no issues keeping up with the play. Unfortunately, I didn't notice him do anything specifically impressive or otherwise.

Brayden Burke - showed some excellent puck protection on the boards and had his head up when he had the puck down-low on the cycle. Made one pass out front that would have been a sure goal but seemed like he thought he was passing to a left-handed guy instead of a right-handed guy and the puck slid away and out of danger. I liked his game and could see him getting an invite to the rookie tournament.

Justin Doucet - very big guy who plays a physical game. He took a few runs at the biggest guys on the red team and battled hard. Deserves credit for his work ethic and had good enough hands that he was able to make safe, unremarkable plays.

Adam Fox - top-end edgework and quick hands. Has his head up all the time when carrying the puck and frequently made crisp and accurate passes at just the right moment. Showed off silky hands on his shootout attempt when he was able to open up the five-hole and slide it right through. Didn't seem to have any trouble during board battles, but wasn't outright winning pucks away from opposing players like Hickey does. Looks like a promising prospect.

Tim Harrison - this was the best I have seen him since the scrimmage where he got Baertschi off his game. His forechecking speed is excellent and he approaches at such good angles that he is able to force D to eat the puck as they absorb a hit. I thought he was best in the first ten minutes, but he had some good shifts in the second half as well. I still have some hope for him as a guy who could play in the AHL.

Brandon Hickey - best defenceman on the ice for me. I'm not sure if it was just easier to see him in the second half from where I was watching or if he got better as the ice time went on but he's noticeably good at both ends of the ice. He made a really nice move during the 3 on 3 that led to a shot on net and he was so solid defensively that he was able to just take the puck off a few guys from strength, positioning, and skating. I really like his game and think he'll be a good NHLer.

Keegan Kanzig - was not a fan of this pick at all at the time, but I have to give the guy credit for developing his game. His puck skills are good enough that he is far from a liability and he is smart enough and a good enough skater to hold his own on the rush and force the play into the corners where he has a reach and strength advantage. I'm very curious to see how next season in the AHL goes for him.

Dennis Kravchenko - smaller player who has good quickness over short distances. He was battling and trying to beat guys with his stickhandling. I'm not sure that he was quite turning heads with that performance, but there was really nobody who struggled to the point they didn't belong.

Oliver Kylington - really impressive showing today. There were quite a few shifts where he was controlling the play with his skating and puck control. He beat a few guys clean with moves and there were other times when he drew a few players to him and made smart passes to open teammates.

Linus Lindstrom - I thought he had a decent showing somewhat similar to Burke. He's clearly got some good hands and skates well enough. I'm not sure that he played his game all that well as I didn't notice much creativity or him using his teammates all that well. He'll be interesting to watch next year and beyond when he's a little stronger and more confident.

Kenney Morrison - looked like a veteran out there. He was skating very well and putting tons of pressure on puck carriers. On the other hand, he's relatively old and isn't dominant. Hopefully he can come into training camp and get himself in the mix as a call up.

Matthew Phillips - I don't mind the Gaudreau comparisons after watching him. It's true that those are lofty expectations but that's the style of player that he is. He's competitive, clever and confident, which allows him to be one of the most interesting and exciting players to watch on the ice. As I noted before, his stickwork on the forecheck makes up for a lot of the size disadvantage because he times the moment that he engages in each puck battle to give him a great chance to win the puck. There was one loose puck where it was him and Jankowski -who has every imaginable physical advantage- and Phillips was able to time the battle to the moment that Jankowski was stretched out and weakest, then it was off to the races on an odd-man rush. Really good player, better than I expected.

Brett Pollock - still not sure what to think of Pollock. He got so many chances in the first half of the ice time, so obviously he's able to read plays and put himself in good position. On the other hand, his shots weren't threatening the goalie and he had a few opportunities with space and didn't make much out of it as far as setting up teammates. This is the first time I have seen him play and I'm definitely going to reserve judgment.

Sheldon Rempal - noticed him on two significant plays. He scored over McDonald's shoulder on a good hard shot skating down the right wing and he backchecked really hard and ended up blocking a shot on a good opportunity. I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be an invite player that turns enough heads to get interest from the team.

Jared Wilson - had a steady icetime. Saw him make a nice read with the puck where he used the net to lose a forechecker and make a good breakout pass. Scored a beautiful shootout goal glove side on Schneider.

David Rittich - I'll echo the comments about this being a fairly disappointing showing for him. He gave up 5 goals in his half and looked like shots over the shoulder were an issue. Just one ice time but not one where I think he'd be happy with what he showed.

Tyler Parsons - as a person who was not happy with the team taking a goalie so high, I have to admit that he changed my tune. His side to side movement is incredible and he made a few gorgeous saves. He seemed to be in the right place on all the shots through traffic, stared down a player who was in alone for a few seconds, and the only goal he gave up was a beautiful spinorama type shot that went under the crossbar. After today, he is one of the prospects I'm most excited about.
