I suppose. But even if Granlund plays worse than the others, there's no way they demote him and expose him to waivers, thus establishing the weakness of the trade from a contract standpoint.
Perfect world: Shinkaruk makes the Flames, Granlund has to ride the pine, preventing any promotions from the farm.

I think they usually just talk Leafs (at least that Steve Dangle guy does).
I was actually impressed how much they knew (or pretended to know) considering they are east coast Leaf homers.

Kesler has easily the most punchable face in sporting history.

Most punchable face is Ribeiro, Kesler and Bieksa very close behind.

Hard to nitpick over the radio, but during the Flames game last night, Fan960 promoed that it would carry tonight's Stockton game. 8PM start.

It is CP; some people nitpick on here all the time without watching or listening!

The game just finished (Stockton 4-3 in the shootout)
Shinkaruk directed 6 or 7 shots at the net, although a couple were blocked/just missed. One of the shots just missed the far top corner from the near the goal line. Had one play were he cycled around the offensive zone to evade the defender and fired a tip able shot on net that Poirier did hit and it nearly went through Khudobin. Had a shot in the shootout that was stopped by the blocker.
Defensively, he did play the point on the power play and seemed responsible for the most part. He also slid back to play D a couple of times when the defender pinched. He did make one mistake on his first shift of the game where he was going to flee the defensive zone and the defender jumped up to grab the puck and it created a scoring chance.
Overall he was one of the more dangerous offensive players tonight, although he didn't hit the score sheet. He still has a way to go in order to get his overall game better, but he wasn't bad by any stretch. Pretty much in the same conversation as Poirier. Shinkaruk has the better shot and is more creative but their overall games are close enough to call them about even.
As for the rest of the team, Hunter Smith had his best professional game. Nearly scored a few times and was noticeable all night. Agostino and Hamilton were good as usual and are NHL ready. Hathaway had a good game also. Same with Poirier. Poulin saved the game. I think he faced 50 shots or close to it.
Good effort overall.

Basically if you took the names off, Shinkaruk more or less replaces Baertschi in the "generic slightly undersized offensive LW" category.

You'll go from wanting to punch his face to loving the kids enthusiasm. Kid lives and breathes hockey. Just loves playing the game and working towards his end goal of being the best he can be.

Between face punching, over the top celebrations, and general scrappiness, he seems like a guy you'd much rather have on your team than to have to cheer against him.
If he pans out I'm glad he'll do it with the Flames and not the Canucks...

Due to the title of the thread, I now think of the guy as 'Van Shinkaruk'
Pretty classy

Granlund had a good game. 12:40 ice time with an assist and a +3. I like seeing old Flames do well, it's just kind of unsettling when it's with a rival.

All to respect with Granlund but I wonder if he will follow the same trends like he did in Calgary. Show a very strong game in his first few games, but start to decline in his play after a while.

Only 6 draws for Granlund, but worth noting he was 0%.
