Does the building have to be painted red to know the Flames and Stamps play there?

No, but some red accents to match the rest of our city can be a nice touch and really make a new modern arena look sharp.

I'm just glad that it's not oozing in Stampitecture with awful faux "historic" brickwork everywhere.

Sorry fellas, but red on the outside is just cheesy and takes the class of something like this down a notch. Not even Edmonton was stupid enough to go with team colors to any discernible degree on the exterior envelope. I don't think I can think of many huge arena projects that have done it either.
 |
I agree any significant red on the outside of the stadium would make it look cheesy. I also agree a well designed classy building is just a lot more professional and looks a lot better. I'll reserve judgement until we actually see what is happening though. I'm just hoping its nothing over the top and goofy. Just a classical looking arena with a bit of modern design. In this day and age I'm pretty confident the building will look good. However a part of me does realize our current stadium is shaped like a saddle so there's always a possibility for some cheese.

I don't know, why do we have to keep doing something we've done so many times before? Tradition? Do we like to have a one-color lego set scattered around the whole city? No thanks.

If we have Red banners that we can hang during playoffs, or have an LED-based side paneling that can change colors to match playoffs or Flames pride once in a while, sure. Anything other than that I hope we go in a new direction.

Muta the Magnificent hasn't crapped all over the rendering, or whatever you want to call it.
Since he claims to be an insider, his silence might give it some legitimacy.

What do you want me to say? You can believe whatever you want. I don't have a comment on that particular rendering that a radio station posted.
