Polansky was unfortunate to draw Berdych, lost in straight sets.
Still a great week to qualify.

Genie cruises into round two in under an hour, Milos catches a nice break as Nishikori gets upset in round 1

It seems every time atptour.com or some related publication does a big story on how Nishikori is set to solidify his place in the top ten, he gets upset in the first round.

Tough result for Vasek: Teymuraz Gabashvili defeats Vasek Pospisil 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 in the first round.

"Nishikori" is actually the Japanese term for balsa wood and/or shattered glass. it's true, look it up.

looking forward to another couple of weeks watching Genie eat chicken nuggets and chop vegetables in a horribly incorrect manner, in between rain delay coverage.

Add Stan Wawrinka to the 1st round upset list.

ITF ‏@ITF_Tennis 13m Stan Wawrinka becomes the first Australian Open champion to lose in the 1st round of the subsequent French Open since Petr Korda in 1998.

Interesting morning on the women's side as Li Na joins Wawrinka with a loss. Alek Wozniak with a match point, but looses in three sets.

Edit: I forgot to add, Fichman put up a valiant fight versus Jankovic to push it to three sets, but ultimately lost.

Maybe Li Na and Wawrinka figured since they already got majors this year, might as well kick it in Paris for two weeks. Li looked totally disinterested in that closing set.

Genie shakes off losing the first set 2-6 and comes back to win the next two 6-2, 6-1. Even better, looks like Pannetta is on the ropes, opening up a path to the 4th round.

Edit: And now the whole draw is blown open, Serena out in round 2, 6-2 , 6-2...wow.

Milos is making it harder than it needs to be. Wins the first set in a tie break though.

Milos takes the second 6-4, in control now but should do himself a favor and close it out in 3.

Garbine Muguruza has officially become a household name...at least in my house.

Genie comes from behind to win and Serena is out? That's a good day at the office.

Milos won the 3rd set rather quickly. Moves on after a 7-6, 6-4, 6-1 win. Good day so far!

I can't recall Milos ever serving so poorly in the first two sets. With that said, this could be one of the first times the rest of his game picked him up entirely.

Very encouraging to see it all come together in set 3 - he's going to need his whole game to beat Simon the way he's rolling.
