This is as good as I've seen Federer play in a while. I don't even think Nadal could beat him today. That first set was all mistakes by him, and since he's been breathtaking.

It's been a long time for Federer fans to have something to cheer about. I hope Roger doesn't falter here

The Brits are simply too polite of fans to make a difference. If this was a Frenchman in the French Open Final they'd be rude and disrespectful and it might have more of an impact. They simply haven't given Murray any boost.

It's hard to be rude against Federer, even if you're french
I think if Murray were playing Nadal or Djokovic, the crowd would be more intense.
But they like Federer almost as much, maybe even more!

Federer is just on another level when he wants to be. Made it all look so effortless, while making every point for Murray look like a battle.
In other news Pippa just always seems to have that look, like she is eye-f#%*ing the camera every time it's on her.

Yeah that was tough to watch with Andy. Can't imagine how emotional he'd be if he won.

I was glad to see Murray finally show some real emotion like he did. People have and a hard time warming to him. I'm not sure that will be as much of a problem any longer. Good for him. I for one have softened in my approach to him.
Well done Andy.
Still don't like his mother though.

I was gonna make a comment about too many shots of Andy's Skeletor mother, but his teary speech melted my stone heart too much. I think he will get a major one day, when the draw aligns enough in his favor to remove at least 1 (preferably 2) of the Big 3 in his way.
favorite slo-mo shot of the day was Roger Matrix-dodging the ball at the net. that's the most awkward/comical I've ever seen his face...his eyes almost popped out of his head like a Bugs Bunny cartoon.
now on to some Olympic tennis...more legendary storylines to be written!

I don't follow tennis that much these days, but how does this bode for their futures in terms of the big leagues? Did Bouchard and Peliwo play against the best at their age, or is it more of a "best of the rest" type of deal, where the really good players are already playing in the elite tour at this age? I don't watch tennis as much as I used to, but I seem to recall that some of the best players (Seles, Graf etc) were stars when they were still in their teens.
Just trying to gauge how exciting this should be. Sure would be nice to see Canada have some standout players (besides that machine Nestor who seems to have won everything in the last 20 years, as long as he has a partner).

I don't know a whole lot about juniors either, but it seems at least for men turning pro there aren't generally any junior eligible tour players of note. they all seem to take at least several years, between 18 and 21 to mature to have any sort of impact at bigger ATP tourneys. For women there's certainly been more teenage champions at the senior level, but even that seems to be a dying breed in today's power grunt/scream game.
the list of junior Wimby winners has a few big names scattered about, but it seems more often than not the player doesn't even become anything remotely recognizable:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ampions#Junior
it's certainly not like top draft picks in hockey that normally become at least NHL regulars. the Canadian sweep this year is certainly a bright spot for what recently seemed to be a flagging national program, but don't hold your breath for either one having a realistic shot in the big leagues.

Raonic lost in straight sets to Becker at Newport in the second round. He's off to London for the Olympics next. He'll have a bit of time to focus and get prepared.

Grass just isn't his surface. He doesn't have the footwork for it.
