Wasn't last season a sellers market? I seem to remember a lot of teams paying a lot for very little.
1 point out of first in the west.... Treliving is doing alright IMO.

Against any other team in the league possibly, but not against Tampa. The game is over.

This team is regressing. No doubt about it. Just sloppy play everywhere. Not yet elite imo. Bad defensively and questionable goaltending.
If the top line isnt all world (which they haven’t been since the all star break) then the team struggles.
Playoff team? Yes. Elite contender? Don’t think so yet.

I disagree. If the move isn't there, you don't make it. If Tre doesn't think the flames are a favorite, then it doesn't make sense to give up significang assets. The window is 3-4 more years after this and the organizational depth is weak.

haha what? You wanted last year's team to add at the deadline? They were going nowhere and it was obvious.
Let's not criticize BT for nonsense reasons.

No it wouldn't. This current group has played well. I don't seen any upgrades making a big difference as long as the goaltending isn't improved and there's just not a lot in the way of quality goaltending upgrades to be had atm.

This game sucks...Flames haven't lost two in a row in regulation since early november
perspective, so far this slump is pretty tame. That is not to say it doesn't matter but, happens to everyone

Oh yes this game is certifiably over. Tampa is playing almost flawless hockey and the Flames are playing some of their worst of the season.

Every team is going to hit slumps. The Flames have incredibly been playing consequence-free hockey for nearly three straight months. It is only worrisome if this is something they don't pull through, and it is far too early to draw any of those sorts of conclusions.

The main difference I'm noticing between this game and the previous match-up vs Tampa is that the Flames look intimidated tonight and appear to be second-guessing themselves on every shift. Whereas in the previous game they looked super confident and took the play to the Bolts. The Flames looked like a Cup contender in that game. Unfortunately tonight it's pretty clear that we're still not quite in the same stratosphere as Tampa yet. I think we're really close though...likely just 1 or 2 pieces away.
Hopefully this game is the wake up call the Flames need to realize what it's gonna take down the stretch, and to get back to playing the way we know they can. This team could do some serious damage this year, but man, they still have some work to do, starting with cleaning up their defensive game.

The fan 960 guys talking about how awesome they are and that the break would do them good. But the break never helps. Especially if they go into it on a winning note

Treliving has proven that he's excellent at offseason additions.
Mid-season adjustments? Not so much recently. His one big addition has been Stone, in 2017. He failed to anything meaningful last season about Gulutzan or the anemic offense. I pray he doesn't let this great season go to waste and stand pat.

It might not be Rittichs fault on any of the goals, and the team is not really up to task so far, but dammit I miss big save Dave on a night like this, when the team needs a spark. I hope he finds his game again, and soon. Bright side is that we have a perfect shot at pulling off the mother of all comeback wins here in the third period. Let's score five in a period on the top team in the NHL!

It’s very premature for “always” and “never”.
The Flames have their most talented team in 25 years. There are always some bumps in the road. They are a legit contender that’s not perfect and will have some tough stretches.
Lots of highs and very very few lows.
