Knoblauch says it’s the oilers beating themselves.
Hockey bounces seems to be the players’ choice, with the universe also being credited with influencing the outcome. Speccy also says that “we’ll” never know if it was a fluke or intentional by Byfield on “The Bounce “.
Skinner also says that he hopes to get another chance in the playoffs, so I wonder if he’ll be replaced for the next game?
Ultimately, Speccy knows who to blame. The mirror. Not what’s looking back…but the mirror.
They lost a game they didn’t give themselves a good enough chance to win, and know exactly where the answers lie:
The Oilers look bad 5v5, Skinner looks bad, The Oils wondertwin have activated sit up high in the zone don't care about the rest of you peons mode.
I knew that McDavid and Draisaitl would eventually rebel against the new coach bounce and go back to what they usually do. I didn't expect operation screw another coach to take place so soon or in the playoffs.
Go Kings Go.

I still don't have any confidence in LA to pull this off. They are worse this year compared to last, gave up quality players for PLD who's not having any kind of impact and playing on their fourth line. And Talbot is shaky, I think Korpisalo was better for them.

This seems like the Flames/Canucks 2015 series. The winner is going to get clobbered in the next round.
The best thing he did was draw the penalty on McDavid by doing exactly what McDavid always does and hold in the stick of the opponent.
A taste of his own medicine.
But I didn't notice him much outside of that play.
If the Oilers lose the next game, Do we see full fledged panic.
Do we see McDavid and McDraisaitl screaming at their coach on the bench while playing "their game"?
Do we see Kane and Perry in a pier 6 wrestling like back stage tables ladders, chair and casino debt collectors brawl?
Do the Oilers start looking for another new coach bump?
Do the Oilers fly in MacT to help behind the bench and show Knobby how to coach the Oilers way?
does the Bobby Burger go up by 10 bucks to make up for lost revenue if the Oilers lose in the first round?
Is Lowe preparing his move, hissing like a viper while he plans to take the Oilers back over as he know winning?
Do the Oilers go with Jean Luc Pickard in net in the next game?
for the answers to these and more questions, tune in to the next game, same crap time, same crap network.

The lack of respect that oilers fans, players, and media give their opponents is quite baffling. If they lose it’s not because they got outplayed, but because the bounces didn’t go their way. I had the “pleasure” of watching game 1/2 with oil fans and they talk like the outcome of this series is a foregone conclusion. Even when the Flames won the conference I always gave respect to the opponents because as we all know anything can happen in playoffs.
I honestly don’t know what is in the water in that city.
I hope they get humbled big time by LA

Their next round opponent is going to be mediocre too. Not saying they are a lock but Edmonton has the easiest path of any teams to get to the Conference finals. They won't get past Vegas though so not worried.
Nashville always plays the Oilers well IMO and if its Vancouver, well haven't they owned the Oilers this year? And Demko is expected back by Round 2 if thats the case.

(Assuming Edmonton beats LA)
Nashville has been horrible against the Oilers in the past few seasons with the Oilers willing 7 of 9 games since covid shut down the league. One of those games one was in overtime and one was in a shootout.

Ok, what have we seen in the first round so far.
The Oilers are awful 5v5
Their blueline is subpar
Their goaltending is expansion team bad, they might as well reach out to Hardy Astrom to come out of retirement.
All of the defensive system good work they did in the regular season has gone away.
Right now even if the Oilers get past the Kings, they are no colorado, or Dallas of Knights or Canucks.
Its true, its damn true.
