Probably worse because Penix isn't that young...if it was JJ McCarthy who is only 21 and you were going to Aaron Rodgers him behind Cousins for a couple years that would probably have been more understandable.
But Penix is 24 in a week.
Wonder if they think they have some schemes they can work Penix into while Cousins is still starting or something

My only prediction tonight is that the Pack take DeJean, Cooper....unless the Lions traded up to take him.

Really thought the Bills would take Worthy. Surprised they let him go to the Chiefs.
Mahomes gonna finally throw deep again

What was a weakness for the Chiefs last year doesn't look that way anymore...
Marquise Brown
Rashee Rice
Xavier Worthy
Justin Watson
Travis Kelce
Suddenly seems like they have good depth in the passing game for Mahomes again.
Somebody must have wished on the monkey paw for the Bills to draft 32nd overall.

Definitely was one of the more shocking picks in recent memory. There's always reaches, but this was both a reach and the ultimate in drafting for luxury. Thinking about it more, maybe the most defensible thing you can say about it is that even if Penix a backup for three seasons a top end backup is still going to cost you more than Penix will cost, salary wise. But yeah there were some quality players that could be on the field close to full time available. Getting a guy whose best case for getting on the field is your $45 million a year QB is either hurt or terrible...yeah that sucks.

If Penix was 4 years younger it wouldn’t be a terrible pick but he is old. Not Wheden old mind you but still old.

Even if it's a younger QB it maybe changes it from an F to a D-. Signing Cousins is the definition of an all-in move, wasting a top 8 pick, ideally for them their last for the duration of Cousins contract, is a debacle.

I have to think back a long time where the announcement of a pick shocked me like last night. There was some smoke that the Falcons liked him but it seemed like pre-draft noise given their defensive needs and the fact they just handed Cousins all that money. Definitely a memorable WTF draft moment.

Didn't Jake Locker go as the 8th pick too in a real WTF movement. Taking UW QB's with the 8 pick...maybe not so wise. Have to think there was a good chance he may have still been on the board for round 2.
Good year to be a team in the top 20 not needing a QB. Those teams generally got some good players at lower places than you normally would get that calibre of player.
I don't know what type of person Xavier Worthy is. But being a Chiefs WR....I'll take yes in the prop bet of will he be charged with a felony in the next 12 months.

This is way more WTF because of the contract the Falcons just gave Cousins and the fact that Penix is going to be 24 next week.

I am good with the Nix selection for Denver. I mean, he's no Justin Fields, but.....
