It's a game people like to play. It's like bargaining for $1 in a third world country just because you can.

There are also folks fool heartedly trying to make a living this way. Up selling items they got a deal on for 10% profit.

I wouldn't say I have to do it 'frequently', although I suppose relative to a person who doesn't have a GI condition, it would be more than typical.
Yeah I'm sure there are worse things. For me it seems like something my body wasn't prepared for even though I followed everything by the pamphlet they give you. I'm sure if I had to do them more routinely my body would handle it better. Also with that Colyte I feel the first three or four drinks it's a breeze but that weird texture starts feeling gross when you get to the last few glasses.

Despite drinking gatorade all day as prescribed, my electrolytes crashed hard and the last 2L of Colyte was hell as I had a throbbing headache and dizziness and even after taking gravol I couldn't keep the stuff down. It was like reliving a killer hangover from my drinking days. The actual colonoscopy procedure was a breeze though and I actually got an 8/10 for my prep despite the fact that I vomited up the last 2L of Colyte so I didn't come close to properly prepping as per the guide. I feel for the people that have conditions that warrant doing that frequently.
I've had 3 Colonoscopies and that Colyte crap is just vile. My body never got used to the taste and I found keeping it warm and chugging it was the only way I could drink it and get it down. I always vomited the last litre.

Along those same lines except using the front door instead of the back, urinary issues gmg. It's nothing serious but every single procedure manages to suck in its own way.

I found keeping it as cold as possible was the way to go.

my mom had colon cancer in her mid 50s so becuz of that i got to start screening early - lucky me

mine have always been mid-morning which is nice becuz if they are first thing in the morning you have to get up crazy early to do that final bit of prep.

i find the smell of the colyte and the aftertaste is what gets me. i find it easier to get it down the less i can smell it - so i get an old gatorade bottle and mark it with a line for one dose. when it's "time"... fill that gatorade bottle to the line, pound down the colyte, followed by a big gulp of water, followed by a gulp of gatorade (different bottle - ha! ha!). it's still gross, but it does help.

I had a Surface 3 LTE (the first of the fanless x86 Surface devices) with a type cover. So I leave it in my bag and the bin goes through. Buddy with the iPad ahead of me goes through no problem, I get yanked.

Security Moron: "You're supposed to take your laptop out of your bag."
Me: "This is a tablet, your own security staff told the guy ahead of me to leave tablets in the bag."
SM: "It has a keyboard."
Me: "It has a keyboard cover just like the iPad of the guy ahead of me. What, is the x-ray machine picking up the processor architecture?"
SM: "It isn't the same."
Me: "Then explain to me the difference between a tablet with a detachable keyboard cover that can stay in a bag and a tablet with a detachable keyboard cover that must be removed from the bag." (I desperately fought against every urge imaginable to end this sentence with "you mindless f-cking idiot".)
SM: *puts the Surface through the x-ray scanner separately* "Okay, it's good."
Me: "No sh-t."
Man I dunno if you're embellishing the story or not but my mind just doesn't wrap around people acting like this or talking to people like this.

This story with me goes:

Security Moron: "You're supposed to take your laptop out of your bag."
Me: "Oh okay, sorry."

I might think some of those things later though, but come on. Just chill man.

Agreed.

The best way to deal with stupid people is to steer clear. In times where you can't, then it's best to minimize the interaction... It's frustrating, but less so than trying to reason or argue with them.

I'd plug my nose with one hand and chug the glass of Colyte and then take a swig of gatorade for the after taste. After my third test I was told I didn't have to do another one for 10 years.

At the time, I was flying for work on nearly a semi-weekly basis. At that cadence, you run out of patience for the stupidity in airport security pretty quickly. If they can't be consistent with their policies and then act like it's my fault, you bet I'm going to give it back to them, and at the time I really didn't give a crap, they were gonna get their attitude right back at them.

Nowadays, you're right, I would probably say "Yeah, sorry, whatever" while rolling my eyes, and go about my day, because above all I value not being inconvenienced any more than is necessary.

I'm always polite even when they're inconsistent morons who don't listen to the answers you give them, primarily because I'm trying to avoid the colonoscopy version of airport security.

Yeah, airport security is a crap shoot. Shoes on, shoes off, belts on, belts off; laptops tablets etc.

I just have it all ready to be taken out and do so regardless.

I can pretty much guarantee that if something has an "easy open" tab on it, I'm gonna struggle like a kitten trying to open a jar of pickles.

As someone who used to supervise security guards at an airport, I always found it confusing when people wanted to argue or give a hard time to the guard - even if the guard is wrong. Usually they're argument was they were in a hurry, so why are you arguing with the guard? Even if you're right, you just got delayed at least half an hour.

Even now, when I have employees going through access points, I always tell them never argue with the guard. Just do what they say and get inside, and tell me, and I'll complain for you.

Okay, I laughed pretty hard at this.

Most of the time, I have the art and science of airport security down and my interactions are completely uneventful.

People who still take ‘Live’ photos on their iPhone in 2023.

Like I just want a simple photo, not a 3 second clip where I’m doing a half robot with my eyes closed listening to you say, “smile!”
