Then you aren't paying attention.
I had not seen or heard that meme before. It was posted and started a discussion. Then New Era, as he often and expertly does, dissects it in, sometimes excruciating, detail and we get a mini-essay that is sourced and we all learn a little bit. It is not always New Era but the back and forth on here allows us all to learn and see things from a different perspective. None of this could happen if someone did not start the conversation.
As a spectator, I greatly value this interaction as I learn a lot and stay current.
Or, I could just sit back and throw grenades at people trying to genuinely contribute. That is a choice I guess. You do you.

Yeah, I missed that, because I don't really care about Alberta politics and wasn't in that thread. But this thread is not about Alberta politics, it is about American politics, which is why I carek. And I also give a #### about you running Dion down because he's a good guy and honestly tries to contribute to the community in a positive way. So quit you're usual whining about other posters and try adding something of value to the conversation.

He was actually trying to show the importance of propaganda, the similarities to what happened during the 1930s and today, and shed some light on what Trump and his cadre of morons is doing. Yes, he missed the mark because the attributions were not accurate, but they should remind people to be highly critical of the information you are consuming and what intent it may have. The United States is being split by a massive propaganda campaign by the extreme right. There is no semblance to reality in what they are saying, and they are following the propaganda model to a tee. So I appreciate his effort even if he missed the mark. He was trying to add something of value to the discussion.

Chris Christie has had enough.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/22/polit...ion/index.html
Quote:
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Trump has failed to provide any evidence of fraud, that his legal team was in shambles and that it's time to put the country first.
"If you have got the evidence of fraud, present it," Christie said on ABC, where he is a contributor.
He decried efforts by the President's lawyers to smear Republican governors who have not gone along with the President's false claims of voter malfeasance.
"Quite frankly, the conduct of the President's legal team has been a national embarrassment," he said, singling out Trump attorney Sidney Powell's accusations against Georgia GOP Gov. Brian Kemp.
|
Quote:
"This is outrageous conduct by any lawyer," Christie said Sunday, noting Trump's attorneys have levied wild accusations in public but have not, so far, raised them in court, where there are consequences for providing false information.
"They allege fraud outside the courtroom, but when they go inside the courtroom, they don't plead fraud and they don't argue fraud," he said.
"Listen," Christie concluded, "I have been a supporter of the President's. I voted for him twice, but elections have consequences, and we cannot continue to act as if something happened here that didn't happen."
"If you are unwilling to come forward and present the evidence, it must mean the evidence doesn't exist," he went on. "The country is what has to matter the most. As much as I'm a strong Republican and I love my party, it's the country that has to come first."

I'm happy people are flipping on Donald, but it is in self-preservation and has nothing to do with "country first". If they actually cared about that, they would have flipped years ago.

I honestly think he has scruples, just not enough of a spine. There are probably a lot of Republicans (and Democrats, though they haven't had the chance to show it yet) who are similarly jellyfishesque. Would Flake have spoken up if he was seeking another term? I kind of doubt it.
Still better than Mitch, Lindsay and that whole ilk.

I think some of the people who supported him only did so because they thought he was wealthier than he is and there would be a payout at some point. Heck, I remember a video where one supporter at a rally suggested that supporting him would somehow mean an eventual cheque in the mail.

E=mc2 is the only Einstien quote you can actually attribute to him. Everything else is total BS. He did not redefine insanity or give some quote about teaching a fish to climb a ladder.

Well. they did send out stimulus cheques signed by Trump. The money may not have been from him, but he did put his name on them.

Lot's of people believe this rumor, I remember my grade 9 teacher saying "even Einstein failed a math test when he was young"
But of course he was wrong
Quote:
Einstein had trouble making friends and didn't excel in school. There's even a persistent, unfounded rumor that he flunked math in the fourth grade. The truth is, Einstein seemed to relish problem solving, and little else. He loathed the busy work of a typical school day and dropped out when he was 15.
After Einstein left school in Munich, he tried to enter college in Zurich, but flunked the entrance exam. That's where the myth that he failed math seems to most powerfully originate. While it's true Einstein failed the exam, he didn't fail the math portion. He did, however, bomb the botany, zoology and language sections.

Apparently Sidney Powell is too crazy even for Giuliani. They are trying to put distance between her and the Trump Campaign legal team now.

He didn’t even write E=mc^2. He wrote m=E/c^2. (And technically he used the variable L instead of E which was done at the time for reasons I don’t understand).
He did also say, in The World As I See It: “The economic anarchy of capitalist society as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of the evil. We see before us a huge community of producers the members of which are unceasingly striving to deprive each other of the fruits of their collective labor—not by force, but on the whole in faithful compliance with legally established rules. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.”

That Sydney Powell story is hilarious, just (once again) shows what an incompetent gong show Trump and Co. are. I can hardly wait to see what Powell has to say about it.

Oh fer f*** sakes.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/22/polit...ion/index.html
Quote:
A key Republican on the Michigan canvassing board is expected to vote against certifying the state's election results on Monday, a potential boon for the Trump campaign's conspiracy theory-fueled effort to delay the finalization of results.
According to Michigan GOP Rep. Paul Mitchell, who said he spoke days ago with Norman Shinkle, one of the two GOP members on the board, Shinkle indicated last week he would vote against certifying the election results until an investigation is completed so as to push a delay even though there is no evidence of fraud or malfeasance that would necessitate such a move.
|
Quote:
Depending on how Aaron Van Langevelde, the other GOP member of the board, casts his vote, Mitchell told CNN either members of the Trump team end up delaying the certification of the election results or they have something that they can point to as evidence of unfairness, even if it isn't. Van Langevelde's family told CNN he would have no comment on his expected vote.
"It's a win-win" for the Trump team, Mitchell said, since it will either be able to delay the inevitable President-elect Joe Biden transition process or have more ammo to falsely claim Trump won the election.
|
Quote:
Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield, a Republican, said Sunday if both GOP members of the board force a 2-2 tie it could cause the process to be chaotic with the issue possibly tied up in court. He added there is a potential down the road for the state of Michigan to face a constitutional crisis.
"If there were to be a 2-2 split on the State Board of Canvassers, it would then go to the Michigan Supreme Court to determine what their response would be, what their order would be," Chatfield said on Fox News.
"If they didn't have an order that it be certified, well now we have a constitutional crisis in the state of Michigan. It's never occurred before," Chatfield said.
If the board were to vote against certifying the results, the case would go to the state court of appeals, and then the state Supreme Court, which would be expected to demand the board certify the results -- as is written in state law. The governor, Democrat Gretchen Whitmer, could also replace any of the board members.
|
Quote:
Although Chatfield reiterated that the role of the Board of State Canvassers is to "certify the election for whoever won the popular vote," he did acknowledge in the interview what could happen if the process went awry.
If the certification cannot be handled in the courts, Chatfield said it would then go to the state Legislature, where Republican members could try and appoint electors to vote for Trump instead of appointing those honoring the popular vote.
"It's a place I really don't want to be in," he said.
|
Quote:
Michigan GOP Rep. Fred Upton broke with the majority of congressional Republicans to say "it's over" during a Sunday interview with CNN's Dana Bash.
On "Inside Politics," he said that there was no evidence of fraud, the margin is "not razor thin" and the state certification process should move forward to "let the voters, not the politicians, speak."
