Apparently, some of the other properties they're working on movies for include the Magic 8 Ball, Uno, and View-Master. Oddly, one Mattel property that doesn't have a movie in development is Masters of the Universe.

I would make an exception for lite bright.. Too much nostalgia.
They could do it like the 2010 Tron movie.

Oppenheimer was incredible. What a performance by Cillian Murphy.

There was one in development at Netflix. $30 million deep already and they cancelled it.

Insiders said that close to $30 million has already been spent on development costs and the cash that’s been shelled out to hold on to talent – like previously announced lead Kyle Allen and the film’s heatseeking directing duo Adam and Aaron Nee (“The Lost City”). Other knowledgable sources estimate all-in costs for development at twice that figure.

A Hot Wheels movie doesn't sound like a terrible idea, like something fun and animated for the kids, or something wild and over-the-top like Speed Racer...
Quote:
“For a long time, we were talking to Mattel about Hot Wheels, and we couldn’t quite find the thing that clicked, that made it worthy of what Hot Wheels—that title—deserved,” said Abrams. “Then we came up with something…emotional and grounded and gritty.”
|
Oh... yeah it's gonna suck.

Everyone who sees it will have their own opinion and interpretation of the film's central tenets and the moral of the story, but for me it just... didn't land well. Or at least not as well as it should have, or could have. I think in that first hour or so I had already built it up to be something far cleverer than it ended up being, and my dashed expectations left me feeling conflicted.

Yeah it definitely gets a little heavy-handed at times and is 20 mins too long, but for someone who basically got dragged to it, I'm shocked how much I liked it. All I know is Ryan Gosling's character is an absolute legend in it.
My girl is talking about going as one of the Barbies for Halloween, I'm hoping she does so I can do the alpha Ken in the mink coat and lightning bolt headband look. I laughed so hard at that outfit..
Now I just need to see Oppenheimer, which is the one I wanted to see in the first place

The problem with all the mission impossible movies is that they story isn't strong enough to hold your interest and then you miss more of the story. That was the latest movie's problem. Enormous action sequences tied together by little bits of story. I get the AI was the central theme, but from there it gets fuzzy.
It was the same with previous movies. A consistent theme while doing a rewatch this and last week before seeing the new one was me saying to my wife "why are they chasing XYZ again?" and she would look up from her phone and say "I don't know."
I never found this with the 007 movies, which had stronger stories.

Is story recall even a priority for the MI movies? I remember them only by specific scenes and wonder if that's exactly what they're going for
1 - computer room with heat/sound/floor sensors but no motion sensors
2 - birds and ancient karate movie triple takes
3 - Felicity's brain explodes
4 - Burj Khalifa
5 - Side of airplane, water tank
6 - Helicopter, Superman loads up arms and gets smoked anyways
7 - Motorcycle jump that everyone saw 23 times before movie was released

I still haven't seen Oppenheimer, but I already want this on a "Barbenheimer"-themed T-shirt:

I mean, Barbie did say "[This] is the best day ever! So was yesterday and so is tomorrow and every day from now until forever! ... Do you guys ever think about dying?" so... maybe she did read the Bhagavad Gita?

When someone describes the power of film, maybe they aren't just pretentious ###holes, maybe this is what they are talking about? (Wow, did I just say that? Maybe I'm a changed man now after seeing it in IMAX) I digress.
Going in, I assumed the A-Bomb test would be the most memorable part of the movie, but wasn't. It barely made the top five most memorable scenes. For me it was

I can't wait for my second viewing to truly take it all in. I agree regarding the bomb going off not being the most important moment. I like your choice, however for me it was

I had tears of laughter for a few minutes after that one.
Gosling and the general stupidity of the men was hilarious.
