It depends on when you go, but it isn’t really far off.

Can you though? I’m doing a 7 round trip to Scotland in May and it’s going ti be pretty close to Bandon cost to play a couple high level courses then mid/low level courses.
The biggest problem is CAD blows and is only going to get worse.

Well it depends on when you go (for both). Like some friends of mine went to Bandon this past summer and it was about $6k each plus food/drinks. That was less than a week (I think 4 days), so it’s not a fantastic price. I know some other guys who go around US Thanksgiving (so you’re taking a chance with the weather) and it’s much cheaper (closer to $3k, IIRC). So I guess it depends on factors like that, but at $6k a piece it feels like a lot for somewhere that’s as close as Bandon.

I did Bandon without caddie - April. But I did study the courses beforehand quite a bit through videos and fly throughs and so forth. Caddies are not needed. It's expensive like any destination, but all five courses are incredible - but I am a bit of a golf course architecture snob. The Phoenix stuff just doesn't float my boat, I guess.
Another low key great, relatively affordable trip is North Carolina without Pinehurst Resort. 2, 4 and now 10 all require a couple nights stay at the resort, which is expensive. The courses are expensive too. I played 2 (alongside 3 as warm up). But I would go back in a heartbeat and just play relatively affordable Tobacco Road, Southern Pines, Pine Needles and Mid Pines (whereby you can stay in a regular cheap hotel). Those four courses are world class. Tobacco Road might legitimately be the most "fun" golf course in the world. It's wild.
Excited to go to Scotland in June.

I don't know that I would call Tobacco Road cheap anymore. I used to go play it years ago for under $80, and now it is regularly in the 250-350 range.
Pine Needles and Mid pines are definitely world class for less than world class prices.

Playing a few of those in may. Then heading elsewhere. Didn’t win the ballot for old but might try the 48 hour ballot. $1000 CAD to play old and another course was a steeeeeep.

Another round booked for tomorrow.
3 rounds the last week of December is not something I'd ever get in Canada.

Shot my PB today and a playing partner got a hole in 1.
That gets the full foursome an invite to our clubs annual Hole in One dinner which is apparently awesome.
What a way to finish the golf year!

Has anyone played the Norman course in Mayakoba? Headed there in 10 days, have heard it’s awesome.

Any feedback on the St. Eugene / Shadow Mountain combo - best month to go? Courses in the area to make sure to hit / avoid?

Wildstone over St Eugene. Shadow is good.
Anything before mid-May is dicey.
Much prefer Invermere over Kimberly/Cranbrook

Bootleg Gap is also good and Trickle Creek. I liked Wildstone and Bootleg the best.

I do an annual trip out that way each summer and golf four of St. Eugene's, Bootleg Gap, Shadow Mountain, Trickle Creek, Wildstone, or some of the courses closer to Invermere as well.
You can't go wrong with the St. Eugene's / Shadow Mountain combo at all - they are awesome. If you can add Bootleg Gap to that, do that too (amazing course). I'd probably say June, or mid-to-late August - beautiful times to go.
Dang, now I want to go back there now. Would love to live permanently down there in that area one day!

I'd say Wildstone is the best course in the area. Bootleg Gap is a fun course too. St Eugene is good if it's in good shape but it's been iffy the last couple summers in my opinion. I like Shadow but some do not. It's usually in impeccable condition.

Holes #15 and #17 are just awesome. Nothing like teeing up and power driving from the tee boxes down hills/cliffs that have insane views!

Booked a Maui trip for my upcoming 40th.
Anyone played Kapalua or others in that area?
The Kap courses seem crazy expensive but should get some discount as we're staying at one of the hotels there.

Kapalua is pretty nice but really expensive, even staying on property. You’re going to be north of $400 for Plantation and $250 for Bay. All of Maui is ridiculously expensive. You ca try Kaanapali which is just down the road. A lot more affordable. Same with The Dunes. You can go way south and do Wailea, but it gets really expensive as well. If you can work it, Makena is a treat. It used to be 36 holes public, but I think it’s now 18 private. It liked them as the the second best golf courses after Kapalua Plantation. Good luck on tee times. Always fun to play in Hawaii.
