If Demidov is their target, have at it Conroy. Make it so

What would it even cost to move into the top 3/4? #9, #28 and....? Would Ras and a combo of pics do it?

Skinner wants a buyout so he can sign a new deal and make more total money

I don't know, but they have the ammo to take a really serious run at getting him if they deem it so.

Ras + 28th for 6th.

6th + 41st + 62nd for 4th.

4th: Ivan Demidov
9th: Tij Iginla

Is the thinking with Demidov is that he is a signing risk and will fall the same reason michkov did? Konroy will be all over that if it’s the case, we have nothing but time and patience now

If the rumor Philly offered their 1st this year and next and a roster player for 4 and got rejected are true I can’t see anyway we can trade into that slot unless someone wanted Ras and 9th overall

What's the latest rumors on Necas? Fits the age range we are rumoured to be looking at being 25. 24 goals last season and would get major minutes here.

Don’t want at all. Would cost the Flames their 9th if you believe the rumours

Rumors of Buffalo moving their 1st and NJ has entered the fray with 10th overall. These are wild prices for him.

Trade Front:

Reiterated the Mangiapane trade was long overdue, 28 w/ expiring contract just didn't fit long term. Felt they were probably going to have to retain however things changed just within the afternoon hours today and a 2nd was a fantastic acquisition.

Most aren't going to like this one, but with the abundance of 2nd and 3rd round picks here the Flames are interested in using a few of these to move up or potentially find a change of scenery target in that 18-25 year old range BUT only if it makes sense. They aren't scared to use these picks either.

There's been some chatter on Rasmus vs Weegar as to who's more likely to move here and the sense I'm getting is that Calgary feels Weegar fits better long term. There's a sense that Rasmus might not want to stick it out for a rebuild and so the Flames are listening on him but not necessarily shopping. His contract and cap hit make him very palatable for a plethora of teams, one to keep an eye on is Ottawa.

Wildcard name to keep an eye on - Coleman
Nothing imminent, but there's certainly significant interest should the Flames want to continue to tear this down.

Draft front:

Flames list is finalized, will change based on on selections 1-8 obviously.
Sense is Demidov remains their "dream" scenario and there's a sense he's likely to fall outside of the top 3.
Flames have 5 players they are locked in on at 9, 2 defense and 3 forwards, but not likely to draft for position so BPA.

#1 priority is still to move up in the draft, with priority going to the 28th pick still and the flames wanting to find a way to get into the 12-20 range.
Flames not afraid to weaponize the almost 30M in cap-space here if it helps get them there.

Beckett Sennecke seems to be the fastest riser in the last 24 hours in terms of teams interested in the top 10.
Levshunov pretty much a lock for the Blackhawks at 2 which means the draft now starts at 3 where I know some have said Silayev is very much a top target for Anaheim but I think that might change.
One of Demidov/Lindstrom will make it to 5 which are the top targets for MTL.

UFA Front

Expect Flames to target both a goalie and defenseman here as a priority July 1st.
Still feel like Dumba is a main target on the backend
Copley the main target in net, though he may garner more interest than the Flames want to pay a 3rd string goalie.
Expectation is the Flames will be in on both DeBrusk and Duclair, however once again Craig is not interested in long term deals so we're looking at 2-4 years with likely a higher AAV.

Long winded post so I apologize, was a lot to share here in a short amount of time. I dont expect I'll get another big update until we're live tomorrow if anything, but I've asked to be kept posted with anything game breaking in Flames land.
Very exciting to know Conroy is open to trading players like Coleman, Weegar and Andersson. Not saying he should give them away. Just a good sign that he is not rigid in his thinking. These are all players at their peak value right now so it’s smart for him to consider what they could return in a trade.

I think Ottawa makes all kinds of sense as a trade partner. They’re desperate to get better. They need top four defencemen. They want veterans to change the personality of the room. The flames have all those things and all under decent contracts.

Who says no with this one:

To Ottawa: Coleman + Andersson + 41st overall
To Calgary: Chabot + 6th overall

I don’t think that trade would happen but I think it’s pretty fair. Andersson is probably worth 15ish pick and then the rest kind of balances out. I’d bet Ottawa fans would say no thanks

The fact that both sides probably say no doesn't make it fair

I think it is. What’s bad about it for the Flames? Coleman might be worth a late 1st but probably a second. Chabot might bounce back but is a body for the Flames if not and his contract ends before it will matter.

With all this cap space and options.. I am curious what type of moves Conroy will make when he isn't backed into the corner after all those players with NMC and on expiring deals.

He is finally starting to create an upperhand for himself.

I look at it as the flames will have to overpay if they want to get a pick that high. Trading Coleman now would make sense. He’s at peak value but on his own would likely only return a 2nd round pick. The team is rebuilding and they have lots of depth on the wings in their prospect pool. They are also rumoured to be going after veteran wingers like DeBrusk in free agency.

Honestly my thought is that my trade proposal is light towards Ottawa’s side and they would likely want 28th overall instead the flames’ 2nd round pick.
