Oilers have clearly bought into the hype that they're the bestest team in sports history and they went into the season way overconfident. They forget that there are 31 other teams who are trying to do the same thing they're doing and will play them hard on any given night. The problem is they don't currently have the defence or the goaltending to be the kind of elite team they so desperately want to be. Can't wait to see what happens when they actually have to play a contender.

The way the Flames have been scoring goals in these first two games, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Oilers get lit up tonight. At the same time, Flames fans are beyond cursed and we're never allowed to have nice things, so it could really go either way. Please hockey gods, just give us this one. I need this. We need this.

Watching them for parts of yesterday you can see how much of the entire teams success depends on mcdrai feeling it and doing it themselves

If they're sputtering offensively the floor of the team is staggeringly low. I mean it's always been that way, but it may actually be worse this year because of the older and slower roster depth.

They can't play a close to the vest or patient defensive game to save their lives. It's an overcommitment to offense trying to run teams out of the building, except if the other team is positionally sound they can counter attack with ease and catch the oilers team up ice/off assignments frequently. And the goaltending is exceedingly porous and won't bail them out.

Their solution to the myriad of issues just seems to be offense harder.

What monkeys would vote these guys to win, I don't know. That run won't be replicated because the stars won't align as they did in consecutive years.

Hell, I think they'll have difficult just making the playoffs at this rate.

Yeah the schedule is really a grind for them. Four game homestand to start the season. Someone is out to get them!
