I just don’t recall any meaningful trades at this time of year (after training camp, before season opener). Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t, just not used to it

Well with Perunovich and Scandella both being out with injuries I could see them wanting to shore up their D but Tarasenko would require one of the big names on D going back the other way.
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Tarasenko
Mangiapane - Kadri - Toffoli
Dube - Backlund - Coleman
Lucic - Rooney - Lewis
Ruzicka
Pretty slick top 6 no doubt about it; every part of me prefers Patty Kane but Tarasenko would be a nice compromise, either player will get a boatload of points on that top line duo of Huby/Lindy. It comes down to cost which in this case would undoubtedly revolve around Hanifin, with Tarasenko I feel it’s close to 1 for 1 territory where as Kane would need a + or 2. Thoughts?

I think Huberdeau gets the C… I get Backlund, but I think in a year people will really want Huberdeau in that role. He seems like a natural leader, he’s our best player now… just makes sense to me.

Salary retention, and the Flames would be able to give the Blues some very slight cap space savings, if it was a deal revolved around one of the d men.

I can understand both sides.
Huberdeau for a new direction and new face. He certainly has the attributes for a captaincy
Backlund as our legacy player, also deserving for his time put in, dedication to the community, respect from his team.
Either one is a great choice I think
