I have a powerful PC and if you give me a choice I'm going to rather play a game on PC but I have no regrets at all for having a PS5. If there's a game I really want to play and don't want to wait 2-3+ years hoping it comes out on PC I'm not going to wait. I just wont buy it on the release date unless I have Amazon gift card balance to use.

I feel like we've had this debate several times over the decades. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer as some people like consoles better and some prefer PC. I'm a console guy but that's just me.

That's assuming you only use your PC to game. Being able to game on my PC is just one of it's advantages and it's not even the primary reason why I have one.

There was a period in the early 2000s when I did play quite few games on PC as well (sports games, GTA and of course Counterstrike with my friends), but apart from that, I've always just been a console gamer. Mainly Nintendo growing up and I later had an Xbox360 too, then lost interest in gaming altogether for a while. Getting a PS4 in 2017 or so then completely rekindled that flame.

The Switch is great because Nintendo has some incredibly fun exclusive games. PS5 and XB are the best for everything else (but of course, if you prefer playing on a PC, that’s totally cool).

This is a weird take. Some games just outright play better on PC than consoles, even without getting into the graphics debate (e.g. strategy, point and click games such as Disco Elysium, etc.). Not to mention the whole modding aspect that can significantly enhance games.

I've been playing Starship Troopers: Extermination early access and having a good time with it thus far. Definitely have some minor qualms (people are beginning to troll by destroying team-made walls and defenses, team killing, and the lack of ability to vote kick people), but so far so good. Has a rewarding gameplay loop for what limited content is available thus far.

They're not officially available but it's legal to copy games from a modded Switch to a PC. It's a huge pain in the ass though.

Sure. For example you could use it to read Pepsifree's posts on this forum. Given that, however, he might be right - we're probably all better off with PS5s instead.

Also if you wait for sales you can get a huge library of games you'll never play for very little money!
I dunno, I don't really think I need my desktop PC. I need a laptop regardless of games, so I have one, and since I have to have one, it might as well be competent at games. I also have a steam deck because I ride a bus and fly places a lot. That would be more than enough gaming-capable hardware for me on its own, even without the PS5 (which I got when I was recovering from surgery to distract myself). But I built my computer because I felt like I wanted to build a computer. It's a weird contradiction because I like what I built, I like having it, I use it enough to make it worth the money I spent, but I absolutely do not need it.

If you don't have any hang-ups about Epic Games, then you can basically build a library of completely free ####.

I feel like if my parents had made a few different purchasing decisions when I was younger I'd probably have a mac mini for a desktop and only game on consoles.
But when I get abused by my 11 year old nieces and nephews in FPS games on controller and have to be taken home yelling "TRY THAT 360 noscope **** with me on my PC you little ankle biter" yeah I'm stuck on PC for my favourite genres.

For me the only real difference anyone could/should focus on is what games are available on what platform. Other than that, hell, who cares. Especially nowadays where consoles are as powerful as a lower end PC anyway. If the games I liked were available on consoles I'd probably just have a PS5 and a cheap laptop

What's everyone planning to play? I was thinking of some kind of lightning Sorc but they apparently got nerfed into oblivion? Kripp has a fire Sorc that looks interesting but not sure if I'd like the play style.

I was always a barb or paladin in D2.
Was not as committed in D3, but basically always played as barb.
Will probably draw from that well again in D4 until I get bored.

Right, right, and music just sounds better on records. It has a warmer, deeper sound that you can’t get in a compressed audio file.
You’re just illustrating my point. Absolutely nothing wrong with PC gaming, its benefits are just superficial things noticed mostly by “purists.” Consoles do everything that matters just as well if not better and are one piece.

Yeah that’s true. And I don’t think anyone cares anyway. I didn’t even think PC gamers would get offended at my comment lol, it’s weird. Just play on whatever you like so that you can play the games you want to play, but, objectively, PC gaming is a much higher entry point to get into and maintain for very insignificant advantages over consoles (when comparing the same games).

In previous generations, it would be beneficial for me to have both, but the decline in the quality of sports titles and local multiplayer modes just means there's no real reason for me to have a console at this point.
